Bike parking is one of those quiet issues in Toronto that frustrates cyclists. Plazas & suburban stores rarely have racks, there’s no incentive to install them & it’s not easy for renters to own a bike. We can quietly accept this, but we’re doing something about it. This is BPAT.

If you are attending the public drop-in for the Davisville Ave improvements, there are several bike rings available around the Davisville & Mount Pleasant intersection. (There may also be some parking right by the school, though it has not yet been added to OpenStreetMap).

For anyone planning to bike to the public drop-in event for the Thistletown Streets Plan on March 23: we were not able to find any bike parking at the Thistletown Community Centre, but there is bike parking available at the Shoppers Drug Mart across the road and Saint-Noël-Chabanel Catholic school

Mine is that I used to not really see bike parking as a big deal and now I see secure bike parking (including anti-theft enforcement/deterrence) at home, work, commercial spaces, etc as crucial. The easiest people to get to bike are the ones already doing it — but many stop if their bike is stolen.

Leaving a bike on the sidewalk overnight or while at work often results in a missing tire or gearset, but for most of us, it’s only a matter of time until the entire frame disappears.
