Had leftover cheddar cheese and jalapeno so made a variation on Brazilian cheese balls.

Alberta is now Canada's most unequal province. Our rich-poor gap is so bad that the top 10 percent grab a bigger slice of income here than they do in the United States. Every time Danielle Smith says the economy is strong, we need to ask: strong for whom? #ableg #abpoli #canpoli

The immune system is not a muscle. It is a cleansing fire. It causes collateral damage. It has a limited supply of fuel. It can get out of control. Don’t burn your whole house down every time by catching every disease without caution.

Quite the day for signing up to Canadian social media feeds for me today. First got my Gander invite and successfully signed up, then signed up to Eh! And my preferred user name was available on both, so lucking out today.

Finally on Gander, handle @bethmckinley.gander.social. first person in my nest; @cougsta and their "mean and nasty" edition. After all, they made me aware jf Gander in the first place. Now let's see how it goes. And ... any recommendations to follow?

Made gluten-free carrot bread. Less sweet than carrot cake but still yummy. Thanks to lynnskitchenadventues.com for the base recipe, though I used Kinnikinnicks flour blend and, just because I had it, an extra 1/2 cup grated carrot.

Sigh, got my Gander invite and it is not working. Hoping a problem with Google play email address and will work soon. Or I may just give up on the whole thing. Yes, I can be a quitter and walk away if you irritate me enough.

Ok, so maybe I made one more gluten-free seasonal delight ... millionaire's shortbread; shortbread, lightly salted caramel, chocolate. Cut into small squares because they are that rich.

Last of my Christmas baking, gluten-free cranberry pecan tarts. Used Kinnickinnics tart shells because making gluten-free tart shells is too big of a pain in the neck.

The narrative that we are being sold that our children's safety is somehow threatened by trans people participating in all aspects of public life as their authentic selves is the exact same bullshit that was peddled about queer folks 30 years ago. It was a lie then and it's a lie now.

Let's be clear about what happened today. Premier Smith introduced a bill to strip Albertans of Charter rights, denied MLAs the opportunity to debate it and the courts the ability to scrutinize it, and did all of this from her seat on a jet to Saudi Arabia.

I thought, that must be wrong, only being able to book next year's vaccines until Dec. 15 this year? But went in the Alberta Govt website and yup, their own banner says can only book 2026/27 from Sept. 29 to Dec. 15 of this year. The Alberta govenment is really trying to get us all sick.

I know there’s a lot going on with *gestures to everything* but as of today, October 1st: 🚩Alberta officially has the LOWEST minimum wage in Canada 🚩AISH recipients in social housing will pay hundreds more in rent Cruel UCP choices are making life more expensive. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Did you know that on October 1, Alberta will have the lowest minimum wage across Canada? Even the conservatives in Saskatchewan are raising their minimum wage. Danielle Smith and the UCP refuse to support workers. They won’t raise the minimum wage, but we will. Better is possible, Alberta.
