One time in a massive eight bathroom house in Iowa in the equally massive unfinished basement, 8 kids and super soakers played capture the flag. It was epic. I was only 6 or 7, one of two girls…I hope there are still childhood adventure of a similar caliber to be had. #memories

not really the same idea, but reminded me of this passage from jenny offill that's been ringing in my head for a decade
“How had she become one of those people who wears yoga pants all day? She used to make fun of those people. With their happiness maps and their gratitude journals and their bags made out of recycled tire treads. But now it seems possible that the truth about getting older is that there are fewer and fewer things to make fun of until finally there is nothing you are sure you will never be.”—Jenny Offil, Dept. of Speculation

If you’re a woman in menopause or perimenopause, you’ll probably appreciate these two novels. I wish I had started with “Dept. of Speculation” by Jenny Offill. It was written ten years prior, and “All Fours” by Miranda July feels like a vindictive spiritual successor. #booksky

I'd heard Dept. of Speculation by Jenny Offill referred to as a "novel in flash." These are mutually exclusive terms, I thought. But when I read it I understood; it wasn't about length, though yes the novel is short, it was about spareness, tightness, precision.

Today's #WaferThinBook: Dept. of Speculation by Jenny Offill (2014, 177p.) Coupling, marriage, parenting, work: life told in ~300 fragments. It works because so many are dead on: the toddler asking, "Party now?" & then declaring, "No more party!" The early mothers who notice you're late and...

We're hiring a new product security lead for Wikipedia! It's a new lead PM role that would steer our security engineering team and how we go about this work here at the Wikimedia Foundation. AND: it's fully remote, and open in a good number of countries. job-boards.greenhouse.io/wikimedia/jo...
We are hiring a Lead Product Manager to bring their experience dealing with modern threats to bear on Wikipedia’s security strategy in the AI era, and to drive a strong security culture throughout the Wikimedia Foundation and movement.

Though this is a senior role, prior experience in a product manager role is not required. This position is intended to bring strong technical and security experience, including some familiarity with AI in a security context, into a role focused on product and platform strategy.

This position could be a good fit for a candidate with both strong technical skills and strong communication skills, who is interested in transitioning from engineering work to a strategic role.

This role is an opportunity to be at the center of a pivotal time for Wikipedia, as AI is not only changing security, but also how people access knowledge online. Responding to these changes requires us to plan ambitiously and act decisively, while working closely with the communities whom the project serves.
