Been working on hiking all 48 4k footers in New Hampshire recently, so today I decided to summit Mt Hancock. The Whites are always good for boreal birds but today I was absolutely dumbstruck when I rounded a corner and saw my first ever Spruce Grouse standing in the trail! #BirdsSeenIn2026 #birding

Fall migration always brings in some oddities, including today when this Connecticut Warbler popped up on a lawn smack in the middle of downtown Boston! Forgive the poor digibin shot, I ran directly from work so wasn't able to grab my actual camera #birds #birding #BirdsSeenIn2026

We're well into #shorebird season here in Mass and yesterday I was lucky enough to spot both a Baird's and Western Sandpiper mixed in with the Semipalms on Winthrop Beach. Here they are in the same scope view! (Baird's front left, resting, Western back right, preening) #birds #birding

From a hiking perspective please don't do this, both sets of mountains can kill you but in different ways and acting like one set is more butch or whatever gives people a warped perspective on the relative safety of each set of mountains
It's so cute when people on the east coast talk about mountains

Massachusetts friends: Please urge your State Senator to support a PROTECT Act amendment that will include disability programs as “sensitive spaces” where ICE is unable to access without a warrant. It takes less than a minute using @thearcofmass.org tool: thearcofmass.quorum.us/campaign/162...
[TIME SENSITIVE] Act Now: Ask Your Senator to Support Amendment #6 to the PROTECT Act
68 actions taken
32 needed to reach next goal
Dear Advocates,

Please take action today and urge your State Senator to support amendment #6 to the PROTECT Act, which the Senate will be voting on this Thursday. This is a crucial bill that aims to protect immigrants through a variety of means, including by restricting civil arrests in state courts, child care facilities, public schools, houses of worship, and health care providers.

The Arc has worked closely with Senator Robyn Kennedy to file amendment #6, to include disability programs as “sensitive spaces” where ICE is unable to access without a warrant.

By including DDS-licensed facilities and Day Habilitation programs in the list of places where civil arrests are restricted, we can add a layer of protection for this key workforce and prevent destabilizing enforcement actions that would adversely impact individuals with IDD and autism.

Please reach out to your State Senator before Thursday to urge them to support this amendment.

Going to #SICB? attend s4 www.xcdsystem.com/sicb/program... Sex across origins: Questioning animal-centric assumptions & developing integrative frameworks Organized by M. Aramati Casper, aramaticasper.weebly.com Jay J. Falk jayjinsing.github.io Karen M. Warkentin, sites.bu.edu/warkentinlab/
Sex and the repeated origins of sexes are key sources of biological diversity, contributing to enormous variation in how organisms reproduce. Yet our conception of sex/es is disproportionately shaped by animal models. We need broader comparative approaches and collaborations across organismal silos to develop more general, inclusive frameworks. This symposium convenes researchers working on protists, plants, fungi, animals, and theoretical models to engage with the complexities of sex and reproduction, aiming to distinguish shared principles from taxonomic idiosyncrasies, highlight fundamental differences and open questions, and generate new frameworks for understanding sex in biology. By fostering integrative dialogue across disciplines and taxa, we hope to advance a more inclusive and accurate understanding of reproductive diversity across the tree of life.
