Last year, I publicly complained multiple times (see e.g. elevanth.org/blog/2025/07...) that the open access movement had been captured by publishers, and we are now worse off than before open access. Well people got mad at me for saying it. But I think things are still getting worse.

Unsere Kritik hat immerhin den Nonsens der Bestrafung schnellerer Promotionen abgeräumt. Aber es bleibt dabei: Die Pläne für die Novelle des #WissZeitVG sind lächerlich. Postdoc-Phase bleibt prekär wie gehabt. Anti-Werbung für Wissenschaft als Beruf in D. Da muss sich noch viel ändern! #IchBinHanna

Vor allem aus der Postdoc- und Mittelbauszene kam scharfer Protest. Die Initiative "#IchbinHanna" warnte vor einem Fehlanreiz, die Promotionsphase möglichst weit auszureizen, und vor einer Verschlechterung für schnell Promovierte. Jetzt gelten die insgesamt zwölf Jahre weiter wie bisher: Wer beispielsweise nach vier Jahren promoviert, kann die übrigen zwei Jahre weiterhin zusätzlich in der Postdoc-Phase nutzen.
Schnelle Promotionen verkürzen damit nicht automatisch die anschließende Qualifizierungszeit.

Wer unter 6 J. für die Promotion gebraucht hat, konnte bislang ungenutzte Befristungszeit als Postdoc aufbrauchen. Laut Referentenentwurf soll das nicht mehr möglich sein. Der Anreiz also: Möglichst lange brauchen & 6 Jahre ausreizen. Fehlanreiz für Promovierende, Schaden für Postdocs. 🤦🏻‍♀️ #WissZeitVG
