People talk about what the alternative is for the manosphere, and the answer is "men being able to talk about crying at some point". Have you ever watched a guy who doesn't cry much cry? it's like someone playing the tutorial mode of a game called "how to vomit"

Women learn solidarity with each other in a way that men do not. Love, loyalty and trust require vulnerability that men fear, as the sensation of connecting with your emotions feels tender and raw. Real weakness is fear of your emotions, but men are taught - and act as if - the opposite is true.

I think the real problem is that men have an insecurity epidemic. Men act as if they do not have emotions, that they do not get insecure, and poor parenting reinforces this repression. It's much easier and convenient to be pissed off and mad than it is to take responsibility for how you feel.

Did you aspire to your job as a kid or find out about it later? It's awesome and I'm curious how someone ends up I'm a job like that.

Does everybody on here start to reply to a post with a joke and then think, "I'm trying too hard with this one" and then delete it? That's what I do. Then I kinda pat myself on the back for my restraint.

This internet poll is breaking men's brains!

And this is what we get when male fitness standards clash with female preferences.

Yeah, that makes sense. I guess in 70s Hollywood, studios may have felt that that they had to allow experimentation because they didn't have as many formalized ways of figuring out what they thought audiences wanted. What a bummer.

That's fair, but wouldn't it also be fair to say that its success (and that of a handful of other movies) spurred Hollywood to rethink their approach by letting more young talent into key creative positions? It seemed to me like Hollywood learned a lesson from it, was my point.

Classic 1989 Brain from the big fella here, just some dumb bit of gossip that snagged in his brain and which he will never stop believing. Absolutely convinced that every onscreen moment of the film Rising Sun really happened, and that he alone can get to the bottom of it.

I love the support indie bookstores get. They deserve it. But it saddens me that indie authors don’t get the same support. Indie bookstores largely won’t stock indie books and we’re the most hard hit by the online boycott. It would be nice if indie book stores could return the support we give them.

The US government faces a contradiction: Project 2025 aims to turn America into a religious dictatorship that attacks scientists, universities & immigration while also trying to compete with China technologically and economically. You can’t do both. However the attempt at trying will worsen the US

love reading a 12 year old girl in 1911 write a mech pilot tweet in her diary abt the experience of driving an automobile

plaque at a local museum. "No girl, unless she knows how to run an auto, knows how it makes you feel, to push one thing, pull another and start a machine to moving that weighs so many more times the amount she does. Sort of a thrill, an uplifted feeling as though you were doing something wonderful. You are, too! Fancy moving something that weighs TONS by a few twists and turns. I held my breath for fear something would happen."

It's what they did in the 70s and it worked out incredibly well. We just need to do it with more diversity this time.

Technically, it would be Cal Zone II, if you know your history.

The idea that prompt engineering would be a major new career path created by AI waa always silly. It was like thinking that Google searcher would be a major new career as opposed to a skill that everyone has to varying degrees.

And the script. So that they couldn't flip it.

You would also have to constantly keep an eye on the tables, so that the hunted couldn't turn them, since that would ultimately have the same result.

This is a fascinating twist on the idea of Sega's edgy advertising rhetoric. Someone should study how the edginess plays out in cultures other than Japan and America if they haven't already. We know @elauteria.bsky.social is doing cool work on the USA/Japan comparison.
