Was slurping noods at lunch when I heard TV news mention parrotfish. Apparently confusion over whether they're being overfished off Penghu 澎湖. Probably? They do appear in seafood stalls in Taiwan, often generically labeled as 青衣、紅衣、鸚哥 etc. So here' a generic Scarinae for #SundayFishSketch 🐡🦑🧪

#SundayFishSketch is a quick little Red Handfish, since he ended up being the fish of choice for my field trip presentation this week!

one reason Lake Superior is so much deeper than the other Great Lakes is that unlike the others, much of it is in an ancient rift valley — about a billion years ago the North America craton started splitting, but failed, leaving behind the Midcontinent Rift System, a deep intrusion in the Earth
