@sturdyalex.bsky.social glad to hear your sinuses are improving and more podyssey soon. I was on holiday in Rhodes a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed listening to it all again from the start while I pottered around looking at old things and the beautiful dramatic scenery.

I’m sure she’ll voice her concerns on her next LFI funded trip to Israel. Hopefully they can smooth things over to make sure she doesn’t lose out on future campaign donations.

Let’s be clear: if the Palestine Action hunger strikers die, the government will bear moral responsibility | George Monbiot
The three remaining hunger strikers have been convicted of nothing. Yet with astonishing cruelty, ministers refuse to listen to their reasonable demands, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

The government sits and watches as Heba dies. It's heartbreaking, horrible, almost impossible to compute. Didn't people vote in the hope (however forlorn) of ending the Tories' psychopathic mode of government? Yet on it goes, under Keir Starmer. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

This is also what Yvette Cooper, when she was UK Home Secretary, said about #PalestineAction. If you knew the secret stuff I know, you'd agree with me that they're terrorists. It's the cheapest and basest way for a politician to malign someone, and a clear sign of a flailing, undemocratic state.

Keir Starmer says the govt must be clear about what its achieved already. Sided with the profiteering energy & water companies ripping us off. Introduced a new wave of PFI to rip us off some more. More money on weapons while demonising the disabled. Supported & armed a genocide.

Look, it makes strategic sense; if Venezuela has huge reserves of teenage Latin American beauty pageant contestants, then access needs to be secured to that supply, if necessary using military force.

Chris Mason is what happens when a Hospital Radio DJ, whose sole qualification appears to be a sort of soporific inoffensiveness, is somehow promoted to BBC Politics Editor - a position that demands unflinching insight, objectivity, and sharpness. It's like a puddle trying to be the ocean.
It is always perilous for a government when it clearly lacks grip on an issue voters would reasonably expect it to be in control of.

The stand out example of this in recent years has been the arrival of migrants on small boats.

From Rishi Sunak's promise to "stop the boats" to Sir Keir Starmer's promise to "smash the gangs" both have been found wanting and the problem remains huge.

Now the government confronts another example: a justice system that is palpably, transparently and repeatedly failing – and where measures designed to address the issue of letting prisoners out by accident aren't working.

@matthew-wright.bsky.social I’m disappointed that I listened to your show on catchup today and couldn’t phone in because I spent the last 45 minutes shouting at the radio “for gods sake it’s neoliberalism, not migrants, that’s why everyone is so skint and everything is falling apart”

I’m old enough to remember authoritarian regimes banning blackberry messenger in the 2010s. We all called it out as _ a government crackdown on privacy. I never would have expected back then that 15 years later the UK under a #Labour government would be in the same position. #ADP

I used to get so frustrated watching some Tory minister doing the Sunday rounds and refusing to answer any questions at all. It’s so refreshing now to see a Labour minister refusing to answer any questions instead.
