Louisiana peeps! Had enough of our corrupt governor and fascist AG? There's still time to sign the petitions to put recall votes on the ballot. Signing event in Baton Rouge on Sunday; others around the state here: louisianadeservesbetter.com/events-calen... @indivisbatonrouge.bsky.social
The image is a flyer announcing a petition signing event.

At the top, it features the words "RECALL SIGNING PETITION LOCATION" with a logo in the center that reads "LOUISIANA DESERVES BETTER" with American flag elements and wings. Below this is the word "SUNDAY" in large yellow letters, followed by a red band containing a white calendar icon. The main body of the flyer provides event details: "EAST BATON ROUGE" and the time "1:00PM-4:00PM". Below that is the address "715 Drehr Ave, Baton Rouge, LA" and "Lead: KATHLEEN C." in red text.

Further down, there is a note that says "*Handicap Accessible Pull Into Driveway for Service". At the bottom, there are slogans "RECALL LANDRY | RECALL MURRILL | RECLAIM LOUISIANA" and the date "August 9th" in large white font. The very bottom has text reading "GET MORE INFO AT LOUISIANADESERVESBETTER.COM".

The background has a subtle textured appearance, resembling crumpled paper, with faint outlines that could be interpretations of flags or stars. The color palette is dominated by black, yellow, red, and white, creating a bold and attention-grabbing design. The overall mood of the flyer is determined and civic-minded, aiming to inform and mobilize people to participate in the petition signing.

“In my practice, I hear versions of the same sentence every week: ‘I thought I was just a bad mother.’ That sentence is a diagnostic failure.”🛟🧪
“Mental illness is the number one complication of pregnancy and the postnatal period. Not gestational diabetes. Not pre-eclampsia. Up to one in five women will experience a diagnosable mental health condition during the perinatal window - the period from conception to one year after birth. Depression and anxiety are the most prevalent, but the spectrum extends to post-traumatic stress disorder after birth trauma, obsessive-compulsive presentations centred on intrusive thoughts of infant harm, and the rare but devastating psychotic episodes that constitute a psychiatric emergency.

These are not small statistics. If a physical complicaton affected one in five pregnancies, we would screen for it universally, fund treatment pathways generously, and train every clinician involved in maternity care to recognise it. We do none of these things consistently for perinatal mental health.”“Part of the problem is structural, but part of it is cultural. We have romanticised the transition to motherhood to the point where distress feels like failure. The term
"matrescence" - coined to describe the profound identity shift of becoming a mother - is gaining traction in public conversation, which is welcome. But there is a risk that the normalising language of matrescence inadvertently minimises clinical illness.

There is a vast difference between the disorientation of new parenthood and a major depressive episode that leaves a woman unable to care for herself or bond with her infant. Both deserve attention. Only one requires urgent psychiatric treatment.”

Baton Rouge #NoKings rally in the shadow of the Louisiana Capitol, followed by march downtown to City Hall. @indivisible.org @maddow.bsky.social @velshi.com @indivisbatonrouge.bsky.social
A diverse group of people are gathered in a park under a clear blue sky, some holding protest signs.

The image captures a sunny outdoor scene where a crowd of people are assembled for the March 28 No Kings 3 day of protest. In the foreground, several individuals are holding signs. One woman on the left wears a navy blue t-shirt with a circular logo and ripped blue jeans, holding a wooden signpost with a sign that says "DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION." Next to her, a person wearing a bright yellow safety vest over a navy blue top holds another signpost that reads "CHAOS CULTURE WARS AND HIGHER COSTS ARE WE GREAT YET?" and is looking at their phone. To the right, a woman with curly dark hair wears sunglasses and a white t-shirt, while a woman in front of her, also wearing sunglasses and a denim jacket over a black t-shirt, holds a sign that reads "NO KINGS" in large black letters. Behind them, many other people are visible, some holding various signs, and a tall, ornate building, the Louisiana state capitol, is visible in the background amidst lush green trees. The atmosphere is that of a daytime political rally, with a sense of collective engagement among the participants. The bright sunlight and clear sky suggest a pleasant weather day for an outdoor gathering.
