My brother didn't make it, he was found on the 11th. I'm heartbroken. I just wanted to let people know in case some hadn't heard. I likely won't be posting for a while. Thank you to everyone who helped by sharing posts and searching and sent love. It means the world. I wish he could see it all.

The deliberate misunderstanding of communication and even basic concepts is at unprecedented levels. This is a grad student, by the way. Such ignorance had been fuelled by feckless and unethical politicians and media, and we are all the worse for it. The future of the world feels bleak.
Screenshot from twitter.

Tweet reads: "Before the genocide against Muslims in Spain, 80% of the population was Muslim. Now, the Muslim population in Spain is less than 5%. Spain, which was once a Muslim-majority state, has now become a Christian-majority state because of the genocide carried out against Muslims."

Grad student retweets with "They're now saying they're indigenous to Spain.

You can't make this up."

He literally did make it up. Twitter profile for the illiterate grad student "dedicated to combating anri-terrorism". The banner photo shows him with Trump.

About time. I worked for Tesco for 5 years. We were not allowed to take or redistribute expiring food or goods, everything had to be thrown in the skip, some retailers put bleach in their skips to spoil it on purpose. No one was interested in anyone's ideas regarding donating or charity then.

The Tax Justice Network lists three former British colonies, now overseas dependencies, as the most complicit jurisdictions in global tax abuse. They help deprive governments of $87bn per year, over 5 times the UK’s aid programme: www.declassifieduk.org/the-empire-n...

The Empire never died
The British Empire is still with us, in the UK’s island outposts and military bases, in the plunder of other countries’ resources, and in UK officials’ imperial mindset.

No Brain (by Dr Ezzin in Gaza) whose writing is as excruciating as it is exquisite in its witness-bearing - rerendered here as poetry.
No Brain
"Teratogenic damage.
Developmental failure.
Genetic disfigurement, not by chance, but by war.
Bombs struck not only buildings, but chromosomes.
The weapons, steel, shiny, American,
fell not just to destroy the present, but to corrupt the womb.
To poison the idea of tomorrow.
And here, beneath the rubble, the deepest wound is in the womb.
I saw her yesterday.
The mother.
She didn't cry.
She only looked.
Her arms were empty.
She had carried a daughter with no brain.
But the child had eyelashes.
Fingers.
And that's the most terrible thing:
that life tried.
That the body obeyed.
That, even in apocalypse, the cells kept building."

Protests mobilised for equality for all and against oppression of minorities are always labelled as a violent mob, Palestine protests are another example. Protests for those least marginalised and oppressed are never labelled in such ways. Think far right mobilisations, e.g.

British English is so funny. It apparently lacks a word for “refugee camp” and has to describe what it is. I think they probably also define the Buckingham Palace as “a large stone building set at an odd angle looking northeast at the end of the Mall used to provide shelter to the monarch”?

He took a coconut & a can of coca cola & left them on the beach. It immediately reminded me of Gade's work, which critiques capitalist globalism & its impacts on Tibetan people, landscape & culture. photo©Jason Sangster2006 The quote below is from the website. www.asianart.com/pw/gallery7/... 1/7
'Railway Train', by Tibetan artist Gade.

The image is of a painted mountainous landscape laid out in the shape of the reclining Buddha, rendered in muted colours of green, blue, ochre, terracotta & brown. There's a train coming out of a mountain, watched by Tibetan monks and balloons behind them. An alien figure and silhouetted figure of someone who looks like Sherlock Holmes are visible in the windows.

On the right, a boat is rowed along railway tracks by people in Tibetan dress. There is a bull and horse in the boat. On the mountain, a sign says "China mobile".

There are deities in the mountains and trees, and people riding an elephant. A stupa in the foreground of the bottom left.

In the background on the left is a building, maybe a hotel, with a huge sign above the roof advertising Coca Cola.

Of the image, Gade says:

"The whole shape is of the reclining Buddha. Nowadays Tibet has lots of changes brought by the West, and the East too. Our generation is a time when we experience this the most and see the effects from all of these changes. In my painting you can see lots of things, like Disneyland, a China Mobile signboard, Coca Cola signboards, which are seen by us every day in our lives. Of course, Disneyland is not here yet, but just like the train, maybe in the future it will also come to Tibet.

Tibet has gone through a cultural revolution, and now commercialism, so now Tibetan culture has become some sort of circus center, or resort center, where you can see everything. Some things are very foreign, almost extraterrestrial. All of these changes are not brought only by the train, but the train plays the role of instigator and is a focus point. So now we cannot place our identity in a fixed area, as there are too many things that have happened. And we feel this loss of identity, and maybe we are the only generation to experience such a thing. I am just displaying such circumstances."

There is nothing that strikes me as more unfair than an overpaid politician using the most minoritised and vulnerable as scapegoats for the policies and economic conditions his class have created. Even more so at a time when his foreign policy is creating even more refugees.
