I like the sc-fi post-apocalyptic space setting & time-dilation plot + the twist. Not super interesting characters though, and while anime Godzilla looks pretty cool, the overly CG style is kind of uncanny. 010

Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 14/10/2026Spidey/X will do year breakdowns. Catalog needs an edit, may go once comfy with that or just wait to coincide Bat calendar. Spidey just re-skimming story. X I’m mid 1996, but takes 2-3mo to read a year, Bats has half the issues mutants do until the 21st Century, will likely catch up by late aughts. 000
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 14/10/2026SW will do galactic years, post sporadically, could take 1 day or months to get through each batch of material. Some years have 2 short stories, some have 50 comics and a video game and 3 400 page novels. 100
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 14/10/2026Scrapped my couple Bat posts to start over for a slight format edit if I’m doing every single issue. I’ll note release months per issue, and even that’s impossible to get 100% accurate, so won’t bother to include the actually alleged date of release by day or week. 100
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 14/10/2026Hopefully last planning rant. Still like 3 things too many, but “perfected” my reading schedule. Happier 1 issue per day - ex: Spawn has 5+ ongoings but I’d rather an issue of an arc than juggle at expense of Top Cow/Sonic time, etc. Exception is Bat/SW/X-Men, need 2/day for hope of completion. 100
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Not complaining, but I’ve considered various scenarios and dreamed about how cool(and expensive) the first Stairway to Heaven climax needle drop in a movie trailer would be for years and years. Did not expect it to happen in a dang children’s movie Narnia trailer. 000
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Everyone’s a baby here. Zoe Kravitz is early 20s. Fassbender before Prometheus, JLaw before Hunger Games(Mystique is weird for a pov character though), Hoult pre-Mad Max, Till before MacGyver… Only true complaint is 3 more movies in this continuity and never a make good on Darwin. 000
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 13/10/2026X-Men: First Class (5) June 3, 2011 Fairly confident this is my favorite X movie. Closest we’ll get to a team origin ‘60s period piece. Kevin Bacon has the most charisma of a non-McKellen villain, but a weird Hellfire Club. And you can’t think AT ALL about character ages in relation to comics. 110
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Batman: Assault on Arkham (DCAU 32) July 29, 2014 Fun & solid. Honestly not that far off from the live action film 2 years later, just set fully in Arkham, with more Batman and focused in particular on his villains. Pretty much fits right in with the Rocksteady games, with a lot of the same cast. 000

Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Batman is a ton to attempt to summarize, like 16k comics, more than either Spidey or X-Men. But it has a quarter century more books than either. BatFam gets big, but X-Men grows to over 14 books every month + a lot more bad to cover around the good. Easier to just read, enjoy & appreciate the art. 000
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 12/10/2026If I gotta pick 1 to summarize, Batman is the coolest/weirdest. Struggle enough scheduling my 3 weekly movie recaps. Though while I may have fun awhile, I run into the same problem & reason I stopped Spidey on Twitter, once(if) I get current, it’s hard to cover story events while they’re ongoing. 100
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 12/10/2026So decided on a compromise 1) will attempt Bat recaps as they released, may quit, but overall I think the most iconic covers. 2) no knock on Marvel, but too much to also cover, will maybe do a yearly cataloging & post my fav cover(s) each series 3) same for SW, but I will break by galactic year. 100
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Near conceding defeat on comic recaps. Thought I’d untangled the mess of starting w/how deep in Marvel I am, but it’s too time-consuming to do all of it just “for fun”. Unfortunately if I want to read Bats, X-Men & Star Wars in this lifetime it’s gotta be concurrent. At least a decade total each. 100
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Contrary, Tails is rewarded by Posey, a possum IN a skirt, for preventing Robotnik from ruining the fan-run Sonic-Con. 000
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 12/10/2026Sonic Stunners Sonic In Your Face! puts Sally in the weirdest fetish-y protective training gear I have ever seen. And explains her new vest as inherited from her recently passed mentor. And she gets a sentient pocket computer named Nicole. And a blue Rambo headband temporarily. But no pants. 100
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 11/10/2026And no clue how to cover the novels unless I actually go chapter by chapter. Could maybe do tv but same dilemma with games. Tempted to again go with splitting continuity by formats & just read comics for now. 000
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Still at a Star Wars impasse though, honestly have more fun reading chronologically than jumping around the timeline in publication order + there’s a ton of overlap retelling stories in various mediums. 100
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 11/10/2026I enjoy month to month comic breakdowns more than trying to piece together a coherent chronology across decades and multiple universes. Post aesthetics though I think, IF I’m to recap forever, I visually like 1 cover at a time more than batching weeks or months together in smaller thumbnails. 100

Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Not the first instance, but fascinating to me that random events of the last 40 years of wrestling can fit so well lyrically with nonsensical, vulgar songs. 000
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I fear the detail of knowledge I’m gaining from internets as I read through Star Wars. Like the couple accosted by a biker gang in the 2nd episode of Book of Boba Fett are Luke’s friends from the deleted scene at Tosche Station in the original movie but retained in the novel and comic. 000
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Everything I’m invested in current now except Rangers, I think - closer start than I realized - I’ll give this return to weekly viewing one more go for VisionQuest, but pretty sure I’ve re-wired my brain to prefer just an episode of 1 show every day through a season, starting just before the finale. 000
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Almost feels like DC & Marvel movies flipped from their comic counterparts. DC is largely gods among men, a pantheon regarded as unrelatable. Marvel was always the everymen created by science & technology with complex lives + personal flaws to overcome or ideological conflicts to change/understand. 000
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Character dynamics feel weird, a little TOO messy and realistic. Fine for blank slate “unknowns” like the Justice Gang, Peacemaker, Creature Commandos…but weird establishing dynamics for Krypton motivations, Jordan/Stewart families - changes on big, heavy hitter stuff. 100
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Trek delayed me a few days, but finished Lanterns. Like it quite a bit, acting is great. Kinda felt odd though it basically climaxes 2/3 through and then the pace slows drastically. I like the general path forward of this DCU, but I don’t particularly love its history & where it’s been. 100

Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Sonic Stunners In issue #16, Robotnik traps the Freedom Fighters inside The Matrix 5 years before that movie was made, and Sally - to no explanation - has switched skin and hair color to the appearance she will more or less carry for the next 20 years. 001
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Star Wars I can start & take notes. X-Men(+ Spidey) will take a bit auditing release dates before I can continue reading. Buys me time to stack a bunch of recaps as I go to roll in once I reach their starting dates with Batman, and no more pausing to figure out what’s next as it’s all catalogued. 000
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Think I’m liking this comic recap model, though we’ll see how difficult it gets to cram in a paragraph once multiple issues hit per week/month. Doing 1 Bat month nightly at the moment for fear of catching up to where I’m at too quick, since a 4-story Batman issue takes me 2 days to read. 100

Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Rest will just be comic books. Crazy enough I catalogued all of those, I’m not plugging in every X-Men prose novel or Batman cartoon ever made by release date here. 000
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Intend with Star Wars to cover everything existing in-universe - books, comics, tv/film, games. Won’t cover, like, weekly crafting or Lego magazines or Making Of material, but Insider and tabletop sourcebooks have narrative stories for example. 100
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I think that’s the plan, I’ll roll reading Batman awhile(in 1944, so OnLy like 50 months to recap) & I’ll cycle in others when Marvel ramps in the ‘60s and Star Wars in the ‘70s. Believe that’s all I want to post, don’t think I care to that extent about FF or Dredd or GI Joe to cover their history. 100
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I think it easiest for me instead of continuing to cram 2 stories of each concurrent daily, to just rotate between them through monthly material. However, that means reading 20 years of Batman comics before I align everything. Even then SW isn’t for another 15, and I’m up to 1996 to continue X-Men… 000
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Trying actively to not summarize every story like I did Spidey, just cover broad strokes. SW is chronologically messy this way, but only way I’d keep track, Galactic Years can have 50+ entries. Spidey is easiest, read it all so just need to reference publishing list + skim issues to recall basics. 100
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 08/10/2026So I think my only recourse is break them down in monthly release threads, easy early on 1-2 issues, but eventually each week of releases would share a post. It’s the only way I can come up with to be able to stay under the image limit and able to post all cover art. 100
Mark Phillips @bamfpimp.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I’ve concluded in my comic reading that if I’m to “recap” the series I want - Batman, Star Wars, Spider-Man, X-Men - I’m more interested in it historically & in artwork than actually breaking down stories beat by beat. 100
