Should #LPI and #USRA restore all censored abstracts? Should they commit to preserving scientific freedom of speech at #LPSC? And should they commit to not censoring #LPSC2026 submissions? If the answer is yes, then sign this petition! forms.gle/G1yAxZqmDujbVDHR7
PETITION: CONDITIONS FOR ATTENDING LPSC 2026

Concerned members of the community have penned and signed an open
letter to USRA/LPI and USRA outlining steps that we feel must be taken
before we will consider attending LPSC 2026. These steps include
restoring all purged abstracts (except those where NASA has
specifically directed or first authors have requested removal), and
committing to preserving academic freedom of speech at the conference.
You can find out more here, and add your name (anonymously if you wish)
at this link:

This petition will be open until the end of July.

One week ago, I got to witness an eruption at Kilauea Halemaʻumaʻu crater. The fire fountain was hundreds of feet tall, it was incredible! I am just getting around to playing with my photos from that night, so enjoy this belated look at eruption #11 in the 2025 sequence 😍🌋

Worried about losing access to US federal data that may go off-line, or already is? You’re not alone—but duplication isn’t the answer. Many ongoing efforts have already archived key datasets and many more are ongoing. Check out these existing resources and, if you can, support their work. 🧵

Trump has signed an executive order eliminating all funding for diversity and inclusion in the federal government, sending home DEI staff who will then be laid off. The historical echo for this is when Woodrow Wilson resegregated the federal government in 1913. We have reached the second nadir.

I saw folks posting favorite images from 2024, so here goes! These two photos of the total eclipse were taken at a Choctaw viewing event at Wheelock Academy - the boarding school my great granny attended. There was something poetic about seeing the sun burst out from the eclipse over that place!
A total solar eclipse over an old rust water town and a tree just leafing out for spring at Wheelock Academy in Choctaw country. The eclipse breaks over the old wooden two story building at Wheelock Academy in Choctaw country.
