Today in my Civil War class, we talked about the Dakota War of 1862 & how the U.S. government hanged 38 members of the Dakota tribe. It was the largest mass execution in U.S. history. It was a weird coincidence that we covered this today and students of course drew some parallels to the news.

Combined with the C1e haplogroup in Iceland, this MAY tell a story that isn't documented historically. Not of a lasting cultural exchange that transformed both cultures, but of earlier contact & intermixing. I, for one, would like to know more about those North Americans who helped settle Europe.

They're not great. They've been mentioned to me once or twice this year and HCW are asking upfront now as part of their standard questions whether patients are on them.
