All of this. I also want to add that, in my research, I found that a lot of “inconsistencies” in a victim’s story actually came from gender bias affecting investigators’ record keeping and interview methods.

I always get excited when I get a good bug pic. This one is from my loofah gourds, which are *still* putting out new flowers heading into the fall. Love seeing all the pollinators doing their thing 🐝

Sorry, hard to tell tone in this context and with strangers! Especially when I'm sure you, too, are inundated with folks who say these things unironically. Using the ol' "/s" can be helpful in getting the sarcasm across in text.

Based on your work, I'd guess you make a comfortable living. I'd guess that min wage and what it can or can't buy doesn't much matter to you, bc you are making orders of magnitude more. It's easy for you to say we should calmly respond by using less when you don't have to make that choice yourself.

Baba Corva @babacorva.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

you're talking about maintaining survival driving and decreasing the rest. In which case you're saying that leisure is only for people with money and, well, that's a bit of a bummer. Because enjoyment shouldn't only be for the wealthy, right?

Baba Corva @babacorva.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

TB even more F, the average person can't necessarily divest from these things. I'll give you red meat, but fuel? I'd love to live in a place that doesn't require a car but, alas, that's not the reality. Working is an absolute necessity for most, driving less is simply not possible *unless*

Trans people are not expendable. If the Dem running in your district doesn't support human rights for trans people, they don't support human rights at all. If anyone tries to shame you for believing in human rights, shame them right back. Oh, and don't vote for people who don't support human rights.

Baba Corva @babacorva.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

For sure, I'm very down with that! I was also really annoyed with this year's "The Death of Robin Hood" for trying to make an RH that was just a ruthless bandit. Like, sir, absolutely not. Even the half hearted "maybe he just misremembered his own story and felt guilty" was kinda dumb, tbh

010

Baba Corva @babacorva.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

Robin Hood has had several different incarnations that don't always involve this element. You know what element *is* always present? Wealth redistribution. I am *begging* people to understand that RH is not one settled story in a Disney movie.

100

Baba Corva @babacorva.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

The Disney movie about class warfare? That Disney movie?

Bombscare is 100% a troll. There was another account in here that shared the same stuff about Arday with the same low follower count and post history. Whoever/whatever this account is, it's not a genuine person we can interact with.

110

Baba Corva @babacorva.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

I mean yes, it's prty weird to toss Robin Hood in the mix here unnecessarily but also why is RH catching strays just as a general folkloric hero? Like, why is the concept of RH a shorthand for something silly/childish when the character is now deeply associated with class struggle in his own right?

000

Baba Corva @babacorva.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

Okay but look, if you like Robin Hood but don't want to hear about a 700 year old story about class warfare, why do you even like Robin Hood?

210

Baba Corva @babacorva.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

Also, lets be real about Cofnas: dude is racist and jokes about being a eugenicist. Even if his field was entirely unrelated to those beliefs, he would be a terrible colleague or teacher for anyone to deal with. This isn't about academic freedom, it's about maintaining institutionalized bigotry.

150

Baba Corva @babacorva.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

I love me some Robin Hood but part of me wonders if some folks really don't want a real historical dude's name on this one. I dunno, seems like an unnecessary change

000

Baba Corva @babacorva.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

Okay but what about the platforms minors are actually using now? Are we rolling this out for TicToc? Don't get me wrong, I'm not wildly opposed to some of these measures, but I do wonder if this will be "industry standard" or what

000

Baba Corva @babacorva.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

Can I say? If the "controversial" science is "science" that has already been disproven by generations of social and biological scientists, then you should absolutely be let go for pursuing it as real. Are we supposed to let Creationists in biology now because it's "controversial"? Absolute nonsense.

Ultraviolet Saturn (NASA, Hubble, 2003) - From NASA Marshall Space Flight Center - flic.kr/p/8LuCdh

This is an archive image from 2003, part of our "Think Pink" gallery, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month: www.flickr.com/photos/28634332@N05/sets/72157625045060125/
__________________________________________________________

One of a series, this ultraviolet image of Saturn was taken when the planet's rings were at their maximum tilt of 27 degrees toward Earth. Saturn experiences seasonal tilts away from and toward the sun, much the same way Earth does. This happens over the course of its 29.5-year orbit. Every 30 years, Earth observers can catch their best glimpse of Saturn's South Pole and the southern side of the planet's rings.

Between March and April 2003, researchers took full advantage to study the gas giant at maximum tilt, using NASA's Hubble Space Telescope to capture detailed images of Saturn's Southern Hemisphere and the southern face of its rings.
