Putting this out there before the discourse against Israel/Israelis/Jews starts up in earnest again. It's not like I'm a big creative in this ecosystem (or on AO3 or DW), but know that if you enjoy something from me, it's made by Zionist hands, and you cannot divorce that from my creations 💙🤍

All RIGHT, post 1 of 2 for continuing Veilguard screenshots/comments-- as always, spoilers in the thread, this is an overview of some of my favorite moments/scenery from the last however-many hours of gameplay. This is more general; Emmrich centric thread next.

Just got a text from someone dear to me who I haven't talked to in about 3-4 years--I was literally just thinking about her earlier this week, and here she is asking me how I am. My sign to finish up this fandom post and then go touch grass for awhile 💜

Just finished the audiobook of "People Love Dead Jews" and I am a mess (positive) (cathartic). Literally everything I needed to hear at this moment in time. I also need to mention that the narrator, Xe Sands, did a fantastic job.

Tangentially related, I've seen some "burn it all down" leftists who are unironically posting about how gleeful they are that the American empire is falling, and I'm just like. Damn. I almost wish I was that stupid. I'd have a lot less to worry about!

The instrumental effort and/or sacrifice of surfacers Varric, Harding, and/or a dwarf Rook in the war against the Evanuris is the last blow that dismantles the caste system in dwarven society (It takes time to be fully undone, but keeping the status quo is now a very unfavorable opinion)

My update of the original meme I’ve had saved for years 😎

A meme image. Link from the Legend of Zelda series holds a poster board up in the air next to text that reads “it’s my Mental illness and I get to choose the Coping mechanism”. The poster board is a compilation of the title slides and/or promotional images for the four Dragon Age games (Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, and Dragon Age Veilguard).

(This is not vagueing anyone here fyi) I really wish that interpersonally there was more appreciation for the value of a social apology. I genuinely believe there is a balance between “I’m sorry for asking anything of you” and “I expect you to do this for me without considering your needs”

When life closes a door, it opens a window. And if the fall is too steep, use the fire exit. Run to the roof -- you always have that airship on the dock. The most important thing is to keep moving. Keep dreaming.

“no cheating—your last saved photo is your therapist” actually I CAN be fixed by earnest discussions of erotica, sexuality, desire, fantasy, and emotion

Post by tumblr user doubledecks.

Original quoted excerpt from Francesca Coppa, “Introduction to The Dwarf’s Tale,” The Fanfiction Reader (via francescacoppa):

“While many people think fanfiction is about inserting sex into texts (like Tolkien’s) where it doesn’t belong, Brancher sees it differently: “I was desperate to read about sex that included great friendship; I was repurposing Tolkien’s text in order to do that. It wasn’t that friendship needed to be sexualized, it was that erotica needed to be … friendship-ized.”

Many fanfiction writers write about sex in conjunction with beloved texts and characters not because they think those texts are incomplete, but because they’re looking for stories where sex is profound and meaningful. This is part of what makes fan fiction different from pornography: unlike pornography, fanfic features characters we already care deeply about, and who tend to already have long-standing and complex relationships with each other. It’s a genre of sexual subjectification: the very opposite of objectification. It’s benefits with friendship.”

Follow up comment by doubledecks: Someone put it into words. I gotta sit down

That “if it sucks hit da bricks” meme is true. You CAN be a thoughtful, responsible person and still leave situations, relationships, groups, jobs, etc. when they no longer meet your needs. That’s not a failing; that’s the inevitable result of change, itself an inevitable part of life.
