Also, because like Horn says, we must engage in middle school levels of intellectual reassurance: I oppose far right governments and political actions wherever they happen.

Posted because I saw a post on here from someone with a decent following recommending Dara Horn "but don't read her opinions post Oct 7". If her feelings about Israel and Judaism weren't clear before then, her point clearly did not reach this person, and I was mad about authorial appropriation.

Putting this out there before the discourse against Israel/Israelis/Jews starts up in earnest again. It's not like I'm a big creative in this ecosystem (or on AO3 or DW), but know that if you enjoy something from me, it's made by Zionist hands, and you cannot divorce that from my creations 💙🤍

These HAVE to go together; here's why. We've seen Emmrich look at Rook with Pikachu-surprise at Rook's blunt flirtations, and Emmrich's suave glances back. I think this is the first instance, though, that we see Emmrich's fond heart eyes (and imo his "oh dear I'm in the thick of it now" realization)

Screenshot from "Dragon Age: The Veilguard". Rook is standing in the loft of Emmrich's study, his eyes mostly closed. Offscreen, Emmrich says, "Close your eyes. Take a breath. Ah. Slow. Deep."

Screenshot from "Dragon Age: The Veilguard". Emmrich is looking fondly at Rook, who is offscreen.

(I'm gonna let the screenshot speak for itself)

Screenshot from "Dragon Age: The Veilguard". Emmrich looks slyly at Rook, who is offscreen, and says, "Well, something thrills at traveling with a dashing young man who's racing to stop an apocalypse."

Battle couple BATTLE COUPLE. There's a reason why soldier and scholar is a classic fanfic shipping trope; it's all about balance and supporting each other's weaknesses (and look here, look at this size difference!!)

Screenshot from "Dragon Age: The Veilguard". Emmrich and Rook are in armor, staring at someone off screen. (It is Johanna Hezenkoss.) Emmrich looks shocked, while Rook looks confused.

How was I not supposed to fall in love with this suave motherfucker?? My first playthrough I was so torn between him and Lucanis, but I think it was around here that I went "oh. oh YEP I *cough* Rook needs him carnally"

Screenshot from "Dragon Age: The Veilguard". Emmrich smirks at Rook, who is offscreen, and says, "I always choose my words carefully."

I just really loved the cinnamon tography of this moment 👨‍🍳💋👌

Screenshot from "Dragon Age: Veilguard". Emmrich is standing in front of a gap between rocks, green magic emanating from his hands, as he works with the Fade to create a bridge. Around him are the crumbling stone structures of a Fade-version of the Necropolis.

I have many feelings about a Shadow Dragon Rook who saves Treviso. Yes, I'm aware that some of this is b/c of a lack of character branching. But I'm obsessed by the implications of Neve's pain re: Minrathous being emphasized and Rook's being ignored/dismissed (or seen almost as too little too late).

Screenshot from "Dragon Age: The Veilguard". Rook is standing in Neve's office, talking to her. Neve is offscreen. Rook looks troubled when he says, "I wasn't there for the dragon, but I won't stop fighting for our city." The UI shows that Neve approves of this statement, and also shows a Shadow Dragon indicator that "Because you helped Neve in Dock Town, her trust in you is growing."

Rook, do you actually want to try everything once, or do you just have such an unstable sense of self created by your complicated upbringing that you think you have to reflect the desires of everyone else around you like a mirror? (Psst it's the latter so you know it's pot/kettle in this scene)

Screenshot from "Dragon Age: The Veilguard". Rook is standing in the kitchen of the Lighthouse talking to Harding, who is barely on screen, and Lucanis, who is completely off screen. Rook has his hands on his hips and says, "Try everything once, that's what I say!" The UI shows that both Harding and Lucanis approve of this statement.

I just really loved this shot because of how it's framed (Rook being seen behind the axe was such a good frame, I so love that kind of design) and also this is such a bro moment. Davrin reminds me a lot of my IRL bro, and I have absolutely done this many times at my friend's house lolllll

Screenshot from "Dragon Age: The Veilguard". Rook leans against a table in Davrin's room casually and asks, "Davrin. Doing some renovations?"

My boys, my beloved squad 💚💜💙 (seriously though, Veil Ranger/Saboteur specialization Rook with max Taunt for Davrin and max healing for Emmrich is a damn near unkillable combo).

Screenshot from "Dragon Age: The Veilguard". Davrin, Emmrich, Rook, and Assan all stand outside the exit of The Cauldron after having fought the Gloom Howler. All three humanoid characters are looking at Assan, who has just squawked.

I didn't notice until this time around the contrast of the Hossberg Wetlands-- the horror of the earth, with the snow and the blight and the unforgiving terrain, and then this gorgeous sky. There's a recurring motif of "light from darkness" in DAV and this region is one of the best examples.

Screenshot from "Dragon Age: The Veilguard". Rook looks out over the Hossberg Wetlands. It is nighttime, and there are sparse trees and craggy cliffs. The sky is mostly cloudy, but beneath the clouds is a sky showing many stars and the shine of moonlight.

This is akin to the nat’l service mentioned by a couple people in the thread but: everyone able to work should be required to work a min wage service job for 6 mo-1 yr during young adulthood. I think it would increase empathy, might even increase class solidarity/inspire better conditions.

The instrumental effort and/or sacrifice of surfacers Varric, Harding, and/or a dwarf Rook in the war against the Evanuris is the last blow that dismantles the caste system in dwarven society (It takes time to be fully undone, but keeping the status quo is now a very unfavorable opinion)

A meme image. Link from the Legend of Zelda series holds a poster board up in the air next to text that reads “it’s my Mental illness and I get to choose the Coping mechanism”. The poster board is a compilation of the title slides and/or promotional images for the four Dragon Age games (Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, and Dragon Age Veilguard).
