Direct #oilpainting “Little Man Ice Cream” More work to be done on the drawing part of this painting. Colors are more saturated than they appear in the photos. Overall, I’m pleased with the composition and how much I accomplished in one session.

Watching Pantheon (on netflix) with my wife and we are both so impressed with the animation and art. As far as I can tell, every shot keeps the same artboard size, and they are all hand drawn. Lends a great quality where the rendering simplifies as it fades into the distance. Love it.

Pretty cool how dabbling in photography improved my compositional skills, which helped me learn drawing, which is making my graphic design skills better, which translates easily into animation and video editing… Anyways, now I want to learn carpentry so I can build furniture for fun

THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH was one of my favourite books as a child; it's still one of my favourite books today. If anything, I love it even more. Great children's books are like that. True art is a labor of love. I just learned about pomegranate theory, the poetic idea that “only someone who truly loves you would perfectly peel a pomegranate for you if asked” It applies to creating art. Art is created when people tackle tedious tasks with love and passion. No shortcuts in love.

After living through the Nazi & atomic bomb eras, Finnish author/artist Tove Jansson's writings would often encompass fearful ideas about loss of a familiar world. However she would balance this with characters who encompassed kindness & community, even in the darkest times #WomensArt
