At the same time, there are a lot of examples of what happens when people are not told that the code committer had used LLM code generation tools, and broke the trust of their communities (by hiding it). That knowledge matters a lot when talking about high risk network infrastructure projects etc.

When utilized in literature review, LLMs consistently 1. fail to mention female authors in female-led literatures, 2. insist that men are more influential or more heavily cited when this is contradicted by objective citation counts, and 3. attribute women’s work to hallucinated male scholars.

When generating bibliographies, the models not only omit female authors or misattribute women’s work to male authors; they will also produce lists of works cited in which all work by men is attributed to its authors, while work by female scholars is simply left unattributed.

Billions of news articles were already automatically computer generated by 2013. Some of the biggest users of that commercial software were Bloomberg and Yahoo! News. Database driven news, essentially, mostly about stock market and sports, etc. that were easy to automate even 13+ years ago.

Interestingly, the intuition I felt and spoke from -- that embodied knowing -- is precisely the kind of thing AI, for all of its performative anthropomorphic gesturing at the simulacrum of personhood, can't do. Tech billionaires want us to believe that our embodied/human ways of knowing are useless!

There's so much to say about this, but what is particularly striking is that the keynote speaker said absolutely nothing about using Claude to write his academic work until I intervened in the Q&A. It appears that he was not going to share this fairly important detail unless asked..

Kuten uutisessa sanotaan: “Matkustajien täytyy maksaa 2300 euroa maksava kotiutuslento itse, samoin ”vajaa 100 euroa” maksava bussimatka.” Veronmaksajat eivät siis maksa koko kustannusta, vaan UM joutuu käyttämään rahaa lennon tilaamiseen, jotta tavallinen kansalainen voi ostaa siihen ~2.3k€ lipun.
