There's reportedly been a dude riding around and around downtown on a scooter this season, blasting "Ghostbusters" or "Don't Fear the Reaper" nonstop all day and evening, and everyone who lives down there wants to hit him with a rock.

I was in Avebury years ago in late November and noticed that the sun was falling westward. Was surprised that it was only 3:30. Suddenly all that folklore about the sun being reborn at the Winter Solstice made more sense.

Because my friend uses mobility aids, we were in an ADA seating section in the otherwise general admission show at the Royale. The Damned were so good and I'm really happy I got to see them.

This statue of Athena is a favorite of mine. In the background is a video still of what they think she looked like when she was painted.

Ancient Greek statue of Athena with the aegis on her breast. Her arms are missing and she wears sn elaborate headpiece and is dressed in a gathered gown which I don't know the name of. Behind her on the right is a colored image of the same statue and on the left, a painted vessel in a glass case.

This statue of the Roman goddess Juno is 14 feet high, weighs several tons, and is actually made of 3 different statues. It stood in some rich family's garden in Watertown for decades and local kids were convinced it was haunted. Even so, the first time I saw it, I was filled with awe.

These little figures of the deceased persons in whose tombs they were found were labeled as "shawabty" which my brain kept trying to read as "shawty." They were meant to do work for the person in the afterlife, kind of like house elves that look like you.

"Don't mind me, I'm just gonna lay still like I've been doing for the last 3,000 years." Actually, this coffin has someone in it. I dislike that the museum has human remains in coffins and also out on display, but TBH I didn't get a sense of any angry ghosts, so it's just me.

A painted Egyptian coffin with the spread wings of Ra across the chest area and several deities portrayed below it. What looks like a tiny image of Nepthys appears above Ra's sun disc. A portrait of the deceased is carved and painted at the top.
