Years ago our admin did a red and black report. It took salaries & how much $ each instructor made in tuition $ for classes we taught-you were in the red or black. They released numbers once & shut it down bc humanities were producing huge $ for uni & engineers, business and scientists were losing $

I thought it originated in video games (real time -vs- turn- based strategy), but it seems to actually be about the shift in 1940s computing to simulations that run as fast as the real world.

Speaking only of the US context here: outside of libel/defamation concerns, there is no legal requirement for books to be true. PLEASE buy your mushroom books from a reputable publisher (who has *very* strong reputational incentives to publish accurate books, even without a legal requirement.)
