Because of Idaho's women's prison overcrowding, some women can’t access the programming required of them to make parole - and end up incarcerated longer, even when a state commission has decided they're otherwise fit for parole. @wbryen.bsky.social reports - www.investigatewest.org/prison-overc...

Idaho’s women’s prison overcrowding is fueling parole delays
State agencies don’t know how many inmates face more prison time because they couldn’t access programs prescribed by parole commissioners

You can't, and shouldn't seek to, replace public schools or libraries with bookstores. You can't replace a public good with a private business, no matter how well-meaning or well-organized it may be.

50 years of strip-mining on Black Mesa has reshaped the water, the land, and the people living on Navajo & Hopi lands. 45 billion gallons of Navajo groundwater pumped out. 12,000+ Navajos forcibly relocated. Reclamation so "shoddy" they reseeded the desert with Midwest grass.

In my last librarian job outreached to senior communities. I learned so much (it's heartbreaking). While there is a lot of info, it's in niche places and not always easy to find, and can be very regional, therefore anecdotal. There are groups that gather to share resources and tips, but very ad hoc.
