Thinking a lot about Bungie and Destiny this week. My heart goes to everyone there right now. I didn’t work there for a long time, but it was a team I sought out because I wanted to learn from them. They are wildly talented artists, and taught me a ton (and gave me a true love for gradients).

This is also the single best model I can think of to avoid 5/6/7+ year development cycles too - let a team build internal tools, workflows, pipelines, let them iterate, and repeat. Hiring/firing cycles (on top of the human pain) cause us to rebuild the wheel over and over, and is really inefficient.

Really excellent piece digging into some of the development of Morrowind. I remember playing it as a teenager and being amazed not only at its strange world, but contradictory theologies and histories. It breathed a real life into the entire setting im not sure I’ve ever seen again in a game.
