really good thread, recently reread Dicks Biological Unniverse as Im writing a bid on the legal implications of finding ET and thought a lot the history if 'false detection' of extrasolar planets. Need to take the position of highly skeptical - risk seeing a version of the Martian Canals...

Received an offer this morning for my dream PhD!!!! Extraterrestrial life and space law combined. How exciting and mind blowing that this project even exists and the fact that I get to do it is even more exciting! Got to finish the master’s first but so excited for this next chapter!

Space inspires the world around us! After a weekend in Berlin, I can see some are more obvious than others. Berlin’s famous TV Tower is inspired by the Soviet’s Sputnik. A symbol of power from East Germany The Cosmonaut (Victor Ash) is an unmissable mural on a building in Kreuzberg.

non-space related but my weekend welcomed a new member to my family. Little Eli (like Elijah). So far, he loves to try and stand on my laptop, sleep and give everyone a big lick and a cuddle. 🫶 My arms and shoes are covered in bite marks but my heart feels very full!

Here are some of my better images of "Marsrise" -- right after the end of the #MarsOccultation. Happy to say I found capture settings that simultaneously worked for both Mars and Moon. No "cheating" and stacking them separately and then copy/pasting. Enjoy! Prints available later. 🧪🔭

Not great - this makes 4 sats in this spacecraft group that have broken up: "All the satellites had a battery assembly with a design flaw that made them vulnerable to explosion." Plus a similar design was used for some NOAA sats, 2 of which also broke up spacenews.com/retired-mili...

It is winter solstice today - the shortest and darkest day of the year! ‘Solstice’ comes from latin - sun (sol) to standstill (sistere). Where the sun appears to be still in the sky. The day is 7 hrs, 50 min (in London) compared to the 16 hr 38 min day in summer solstice.
