An Irish compromise proposal for the EU’s long-term budget has drawn fire from the net-paying countries over its size and its focus on cutting ‘modern’ priorities. The Commission and MEPs have countered, warning of the risks of a less ambitious, more rigid budget.

Ranking Member Shaheen and
Six Bipartisan Senators' Statement on Legality of Imports of Russian Diesel Fuel
WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Susan Collins (R-ME), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Ron Wyden (D-OR), Thom Tillis (R-NC) and John Curtis (R-UT) issued a statement regarding the legality of Russian diesel fuel imports to the United States.
"Congress explicitly banned Russian energy imports in 2022 to prevent American dollars from financing Putin's brutal war against Ukraine. Congress was clear: the U.S. should not import oil from Russia until it ends its aggression against Ukraine and ceases threats against our NATO Allies.
"President Trump's decision to allow Russian diesel imports to the U.S. runs directly counter to that law. The Administration has also failed to consult with Congress or submit any explanation to justify its decision as required by statute.
"The United States should not provide Putin with a financial lifeline while Russia continues to kill Ukrainian civilians. The Administration must immediately reverse course."

The Netherlands will continue to stand up for the International Criminal Court. As host state and as a signatory to the ICC’s Rome Statute, we will continue to do everything in our power to ensure that the Court can function effectively.
Text on visual: "The sanctions that have been announced against the International Criminal Court mark a new and unwelcome escalation. This is a deeply regrettable step. We will stand firm in defence of the Court.
At the same time, it’s important to note that the sanctions will not take effect immediately and that service providers can continue to work for the ICC.
The six-month period before the sanctions take effect creates scope for dialogue. We welcome this and will make a serious assessment of the options available, in partnership with the other members of the ICC. " Tom Berendsen, Minister of Foreign Affairs

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

Nazis Would Award Hitler Nobel PRize

Helsingfors - Finnish and German newspapers suggest that the Nobel Prize should be awarded to Reichsfuehrer Adolf Hitler.

The German leader could claim the coveted prize on various counts, they say. Before the war he was an architect and several of his drawings and paintings are extant.

His book "Mein Kampf" has been a best seller. In fact, it is compulsory for libraries and schools to buy it.

But it is rather the Peace Prize which the Fuehrer's admirers have in mind. They claim that thanks to him Europe still enjoys peace.
