The more I serve as the person responding to more impactful school behaviors, working w/ the students & families involved, the more I can’t overstate the transformative power & importance of partnering w/ care givers early & often, by voice & in person, to gain partnership. #edusky

📣 Hear from Stephanie who recently completed Restorative Practices for Educators! 🏫 During this two-day introductory experience, you will learn the fundamental theory/practices for engaging with students, staff, and parents in your school setting: bit.ly/4ep40He
A graphic for the IIRP Graduate School features a testimonial from Facilitator and School Counselor Stephanie Ressler. The graphic includes a small photo of Stephanie and mentions her location: Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. Her quote reads: During a training with the IIRP our instructor suggested that perhaps restorative practices should really be called relationship practices because that’s what this work is really about. That resonated because it touches a question I’ve been returning to throughout my career: What creates the conditions for meaningful transformation? Whether I’m counseling a student, facilitating a circle, coaching an individual, or partnering with educators, I’m less interested in techniques than in the relational conditions that make change possible. I’m grateful to the IIRP for offering both a framework and a community that continues to deepen that practice.

Anybody familiar with any research out there on teachers leading educational change? Not just leading a district agenda (though that’s fine too) but teacher-driven change from the ground up. I’m looking but might not be using the right terminology. Thanks! #edusky #edresearch

There was a lot of #AcademicFreedom, good scholarship, and independent thought in German universities before Hitler. After Hitler had risen to power, many academics fled the country. Some resisted the Nazi regime and were persecuted. Most adapted to a new situation. Here are some examples. 1/n

A portion of our middle schoolers haven’t secured many social and emotional skills that my mind tells me they should already have. It feels more prevalent and impactful than in the past, but I wonder if that’s so, or if it’s the same as it ever was, but shifted in some way in its manifestation.
