We have those same machines & game software at the casinos near me, but they’ve only (as of my last visit) got the mid/meh Abominable Snowman and Mummy theme overlays. Would be nice to get the Werewolf one for Halloween at Pala or Valley View…

I'm not done with this bullshit. Suggesting when we buy games, digital or otherwise, we don't own them is RIDICULOUS. Every single game I've ever bought before digital was the norm? IS. MINE. Of course it's "reasonable". It's ALWAYS been the expectation because it was this way for DECADES.

4 panel comic

Panel 1:
A post from “kavishj9611” that reads:

“All the people who are anti-Al or want to slow Al progress, I have one question:
If Al disappeared tomorrow, could you still get through an entire workday without ChatGPT, Claude, or any other
Al tool?
Imagine Al was suddenly banned.
Would you actually be willing to give it up?”

Panel 2:
And Orange Guy and a Pink Guy are standing in a room that has two pipes in it. Both pipes are pumping raw sewage into the room. The characters are waist deep in it.
Orange Guy says smugly “Ok Mr “I don’t want to be in a room that’s filling up with raw sewage” let me ask you this”

Panel 3:
The sewage has reached their chests. Pink Guy is gagging. Orange Guy smugly continues “If all this sewage disappeared right now, could you get through the day without it?”

Panel 4:
The sewage is almost up to their eyeballs. Orange Guys says “Look at that shit floating past your face. Are you willing to give that up?”

Deepfakes are everywhere, but digital forensics investigators are fighting back. Learn more: scim.ag/42dMPBg
To verify images, digital forensics investigators will often check whether the geometry of the scene is realistic. In a real photo, lines that run parallel in reality—like floor tiles—should meet at a single vanishing point. In this image, however, the dotted lines do not meet in a single point, indicating it is a fake.
Image: an AI-generated image of soldiers marching down a hallway in three lines, wearing fatigues and carrying rifles. Four dotted white lines have been added over the image, running along the floor tiles visible in the foreground and extending back to where the vanishing point should be, behind the soldiers. Instead of meeting in a single point, the lines all cross at different points.Investigators also examine reflections. The lines connecting points on an object to matching points in its mirror image run parallel in reality, so similarly should meet at a vanishing point. In this image, the lines again do not converge on one point, revealing it to be a fake.
Image: An AI-generated image of a plastic cartoon dinosaur toy with its reflection visible in a small mirror. Four dotted white lines are layered over the image, connecting points on the toy with the same points on its reflection: the top of its eye, the end of its jaw, its hand, and its foot. The lines extend out to the side of the image, where they all cross at different points rather than meeting at a single point.Shadows can be a giveaway, too. Because the Sun is so far away, its rays are essentially parallel when they reach Earth's surface. That means that the lines connecting points on an object to the shadows they cast in sunlight should also intersect at a vanishing point. In this Al-generated image, that is clearly not the case.
Image: An AI-generated image of colorful, semi-transparent plastic cubes arranged in a group in a city plaza. Six dotted white lines are layered over the image, connecting corners of several cubes with the corresponding corners in their shadows. The lines extend upward off the edge of the image, toward where a vanishing point should be. Three of them converge on roughly the same point, but two extend further, and one cuts across all the others at an angle.

My logged takeoff & landing counts have been off by one for years. A training flight unexpectedly turned IMC once, and CFI had to grab a pop-up IFR to land at minimums. Also logged 0.1 dual actual IMC that flight. DPE quizzed me specifically on that during my check ride. LOL

To my non tech normies, PSA: when you share a link, everything after the ? is tracking. Those “query parameters” tell companies exactly how you arrived, what app you clicked, which ad or email sent you, sometimes a unique identifier tied to you. You can delete everything after the question mark.

This thing 🫴
HEY YOU! YES YOU! TAKE THIS SHIT OUT OF LINKS!
A screenshot of a link with a question mark followed by a seemingly random string of characters.
These are source identifiers. Source identifiers are used to track your activity on a site. Where you came from, what device you use, and even who you talk to. Whether it's written clearly in the url or tied to a random string of characters, it's assigned to your activity.
When you send a link containing a source identifier to somebody and they click it, it signals to the website that you two are connected. And that data goes right back to the website operators, and thus their advertisers.
Whenever you select "share" or "copy link" on a social app or website, it creates a link like this. If you give even the smallest shit about online privacy, it's important to remove them. Everything after the "?" symbol can be removed without issue, especially sections starting with "si=" or "utm_source="

I can feel the Christmas noose beginning to tighten all too soon 🎃🙅🎄 #OldBearComics #TheBearMinimum
Holly bear stands in a supermarket, looking at days after Halloween candy on sale. She says: "Man what a good Halloween! I love that spooky fall feel-". She is distracted by distant music playing 'Holly jolly Christmas' & asks (afraid) "Wait what was that?"Holly bear takes off screaming "No! Not now!" as too early Christmas decorations put out by the store move in aggressively towards her.
'I don't know if there'll be snow but have a cup of cheer' sounds in the background louder now as the song continues.A desperate Holly bear struggles to get through the store's door screaming "HELP! It's got me!!" as her claws scrape the doorframe, she is being pulled back in by the Christmas decorations. Holly Jolly Christmas continues to play louder.Holly bear is yanked back inside as the door slams on her, trapped in the store. Ominously the last refrain of 'Holly jolly Christmas' seeps loudly through the shut door.

As Halloween nears, let’s take a moment to reflect on the TRUE holiday horrors Gen-X and early Millennials suffered at the hands of our parents. Behold the “costumes” my sister and I wore for Halloween in 1980, and despair! 😬
Vinyl Halloween “costume” from 1980: a bad polyethylene mask of a licensed character, and a vinyl onesie bearing the copyrighted IP with even worse “artwork”.

The “costume” pictured consists of a polyethylene mask of the Star Wars character Yoda, if Yoda were a blue chimpanzee with elf ears. The onesie is blue, and the upper half is decorated with white dots representing stars. A large drawing of what can only be described as Yoda’s overweight second cousin twice-removed is highlighted by a thick yellow border.

The logo for “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” is printed on the outfit’s upper-left shoulder/breast.

Not pictured: the godawful stench of poorly-cured vinyl, cheap plastic, and industrial airbrush paint. Vinyl Halloween “costume” from 1980: a bad polyethylene mask of a licensed character, and a vinyl onesie bearing the copyrighted IP with even worse “artwork”.

The “costume” pictured consists of a polyethylene mask of the cartoon character Strawberry Shortcake. The onesie is patterned like a red & white antique sun dress, and the upper half is adorned with the cartoon’s eponymous title card. The bottom half bears the likeness of the eponymous lead character sitting with a cartoon cat among green leaves.

Not pictured: the godawful stench of poorly-cured vinyl, cheap plastic, and industrial airbrush paint.

My sister had the absolute misfortune of having worn a copy of this costume as a child.
