When an LNG lobbyist smoothed Eby's path to NDP leadership and becoming Premier they got more LNG projects in return. Now real estate and AirBNB lobbyists are working to get him reelected. Eby has their back not British Columbians. #VoteGreen ricochet.media/politics/two...

Why I broke up with David Eby’s BC NDP
When the NDP came to power, they promised to take climate change seriously. Instead, we’ve watched those promises unravel.

💯 They've proven over and over that they're unethical and ableist, and all too happy to let BC citizens suffer and die from treatable illnesses.

Still reeling over this comment Eby blurted out last night. I guess I needed to be reminded that BC is not a safe place for citizens with rare or complex medical issues, or even severe autoimmune diseases. BC is only for healthy, abled people. I keep wishing so hard it was otherwise.v

Was I the only one who caught this rushed/mumbled line from Eby?? What was he getting at, that BC residents are being unreasonable expecting the same access to medical treatment that is available in other provinces? 🙃 #bcpoli

Since as long as we’re still residents we still gotta vote, we’re watching the debate… 😬 Eby is often babbling talking points and not answering the questions, and poor Emily does not seem adequately prepped for this. 💔 Doerksen seems more honest and reasonable. I am worried.

The NDP are at serious risk of losing the BC election on the 24th. How did they end up so flat-footed in a snap election that THEY called? It's at least partly their particular culty insularity that renders them unable to read the room. Why are they so chronically out of touch? 🧵 #bcpoli

There is no shortage of housing in Vancouver. There is a shortage of *affordable* housing. The bulk of new builds are worsening that. I’m really unwell and don’t have the energy to get into longer explanations, but I would suggest you read Patrick Condon’s work, he explains it all in detail.

I live in BC and totally get it. People have been deliberately misinformed, with public health saying "wash hands", not "mask up". Attempting to limit gov't and corporate responsibility by cleaning the air, they've promoted covid transmission and ensured the pandemic will never end.

Market condos and duplexes that cost four times more than what they replaced before rezoning. The BCNDP is deeply in cahoots with the real estate industry and protects them at every level. Just like a lot of the centrist/right wing municipal parties. None of them are working for the citizens.

Again while this may seem like the obvious explanation, this is not an accurate picture of what’s going on in BC housing. Blaming the municipalities (or “wealthy homeowners”) is not appropriate, zoning didn’t create any of this, and you can’t build your way out of an affordability crisis with…

David Eby seemed like a decent guy back when he was at the BCCLA and serving as Attorney General. I don’t know whether that was an act or he’s since been bought by corporate interests, but he has not been in it for the people for a long time now and it shows (especially in housing + healthcare).

I really enjoy your work, but you’re a bit out of touch with what’s going on in BC. The BCNDP is a right of centre party despite the name. They collude with the real estate industry to allow EXHORBITANT housing prices, and are widely hated across the political spectrum including by leftists.

I don’t think you can answer that in a blanket way, it’s so contextual to the location. I don’t know the situation in Montreal well enough yet to comment, but in Vancouver “build more” has if anything massively increased rents, because all new units cost significantly more than what they replaced.

It is THE biggest regret of my entire life. If I could undo one single thing I would never have taken it. But the worst part, aside from so many doctors missing that it was making me so sick and telling me to stay on it, is zero support trying to recover. Grieving/accepting a changed body is hard.

I had never taken it before and didn't realise how different it was from hydrocortisone. Too much, too long, then tapered too fast. For a misdiagnosis, no less. It did nothing positive, made literally every medical issue worse + caused so many new ones. If I told you the dose your head would spin.

I only wish there was a kind of specialist who could advise over things like this - though maybe there’s nothing that can really help anyway. Having every inch of your body feel and look different (in a bad way, like rapid ageing by decades) is really hard to get used to.

I never understood (and I know it’s not the same situation), until I had my body and appearance dramatically change in a short time span due to medical complications, especially overprescribed prednisone/Cushings. Permanent changes to your body are a constant reminder of what happened. I get it now.
