It’s not a story that anyone wants to hear but in February 2018 I caught a friend’s sore throat. While he recovered fully, I just kept declining, and by June I was 99% bedbound. Eight years later, that’s where I remain. We desperately need better defenses against all respiratory viruses.

We've seen a distinct drop in interest in these conditions as people have memory-holed COVID; they'd like to forget infection-associated chronic conditions, but they're impacting everyone, including kids. I'm the Scientific Director at #MEAction, and I advocate for #MECFS, #LongCOVID, & other IACCs.

Is everyone else’s autobiography so freaking niche? Everything I try to say about mine is like an inside joke that would require tons of background, thereby ruining it as either story or joke. Is this just the way everybody’s story seems to themselves?

Novel drug bezisterim may help improve fatigue, post-exertional malaise, and neurological symptoms in people with Long COVID, according to preliminary clinical trial results that the treatment’s developer, BioVie, shared this morning. thesicktimes.org/2026/09/15/b...
ID: A hand placing a pill in a weekly organizer. The text reads, “The Sick Times. Bezisterim may help with some Long COVID symptoms, drug’s developer reports in early trial results. By Betsy Ladyzhets. News.” The following slides feature quotes from the story at The Sick Times.

“What really stands out to me about the data that have been presented today is that it shows a very clear direction” toward improving key symptoms, said Ezra Spier, a Long COVID patient-researcher who advised the trial team, during the webinar. “It gives the community some hope, because we’ve been seeing trial fail after fail after fail. Seeing something that provides demonstrated impact, I think is really exciting.”

Because we can’t reduce the two descriptions — the mental or spiritual and the physical — we have a conceptual and linguistic dualism, but this doesn’t require a corresponding ontological dualism.

Look, I didn’t do a whole PhD in religion so I could lie around and not Do Threads. The mental is not to be identified with the spiritual; it is the spiritual account of reality; and the physical is the causal/explanatory account of reality, which science models using mathematics, itself
