Ah, but here in the Middle West (Northern Indiana) they’ve saved us from the interminable passing of the right of way at four way stop signs, driven by our tragic flaw, politeness.

Today’s thought: The ambiguous, or really polyvalent, symbol “lion” might be a key to understanding the Bible.

ICE arrested the mom of a 9-year-old at a school bus stop in Austin, leaving him alone and crying. The video has profanity and is heartbreaking to watch, but it shows the fear/pain of what happened. This is evil. This is wrong. And it has to stop.

Excellent article from a LC and ME patient in similar circumstances to my own. She notes that we need Congress to approve $50 million to fund a ME/CFS research plan they’ve already agreed to in principle.

It is so on-brand for a US warmonger to say, “We need men who will reduce cultures to stereotypes and extract from them.” No sense for historical complexity whatsoever.

Trans people deserve our full love and support and protection, including our recognition of who they are. That is an intrinsic principle. But even if you disagree, you must see how anti-trans ideology, already violent (the tip is the ouchy bit of the spear), is being used for ever more violence.

It’s not a story that anyone wants to hear but in February 2018 I caught a friend’s sore throat. While he recovered fully, I just kept declining, and by June I was 99% bedbound. Eight years later, that’s where I remain. We desperately need better defenses against all respiratory viruses.

We've seen a distinct drop in interest in these conditions as people have memory-holed COVID; they'd like to forget infection-associated chronic conditions, but they're impacting everyone, including kids. I'm the Scientific Director at #MEAction, and I advocate for #MECFS, #LongCOVID, & other IACCs.

Is everyone else’s autobiography so freaking niche? Everything I try to say about mine is like an inside joke that would require tons of background, thereby ruining it as either story or joke. Is this just the way everybody’s story seems to themselves?

Somehow each of us is like an antenna that picks up our environment. A marvel! Yet we can pick up only those aspects of the environment for which our “antenna” is suited, and that we endow our environment with features of our own experience, such as seeing willows as weeping etc.
