It’s also weird that this month marks the 250th anniversary of the first shots of the American Revolution- a conflict largely caused by tarrifs (and aggravated by a dispute over the Canadian border)

So is trickster really trickster or is it the hat that’s the trickster that is manipulating the person? #TheOneRing had that kind of meddling behaviour, as I recall. #trickster #FolkyFriday #psychology

#StandingStoneSaturday I went off all social media for a while for all kinds of healthy reasons, so I hadn’t shared equinox pictures of my dawn moment at the #BronzeAge burial circle behind my house. Numb fingered, I drummed slowly to the dawn, a rhythm I’d only minutes before dreamt #archaeotherapy

The pool at #Powfoot on the #Solway coast, constructed at the end of the Victorian era, locals used it for bathing. Powfoot was partially developed as a resort but was never completed. The pool isn’t maintained, but during the summer kids still paddle. And a heron hunts trapped fish.

Take a moment to look at the sky or a tree or a bird if you need a break. Hang in there. I’m saying this to myself as much as to all of you. 🌿

The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.

Thanks for sharing this. It reminds me that the bodies we all inhabit are subject to influences from everything that touches it and goes within it. Mushrooms, foods, herbs, plastics, as well as the intangibles: books, tv, internet. Life within is inextricably interconnected to the wider world.

A blessed St Bridget’s day to you. Not to be confused with tomorrow’s Imbolc, they sit next to one another but are not the same. Bridget is healing, poetry, black smithing, liminal places, milk. Imbolc is ‘in the belly’: survival through winter, lambs, new life, Spring. And is far more ancient.

There are roads that make you feel the longer you stay on them, the less certain they'll lead to your destination – not only in terms of place, but time. Roads connecting you to a sense of the land as one giant network of haunted hodology. Roads that you believe just might possess you. – #MattAdams

#rachelcarson had immense power with words. In the 60’s her wisdom shook the world, nearly enough to turn back from the path of ecological destruction. Nowadays we stomach the softer of her thoughts, preferring ideas of beauty over challenge, life over death. ‘Silent Spring’ needs re-reading.

A very interesting read. As a prehistorian who frequently came up against archaeological evidence of the horrendous impact of Roman colonialism on cultures, it doesn’t assuage any concerns at all that Musk prefers to associate himself with Romans. Has he not noticed the irony?

#StandingStoneSunday at the confluence of two rivers, the Balder as it runs into the mighty Tees, stands a cairn, with a carved stone atop. I’ve called it the ladybird stone, because it has a deep groove along its ridge, and cup marks on both sides.
