Dracula (1897) by Bram Stoker This might be the most beautiful book cover featuring the undead Count I've ever seen. Boris Vallejo you savage artistic demon, you've done it again, back in 1992 that is! The moon looming large is helluva choice along with that flapping cape. #booksky #horrorsky

Marc Chagall : Lovers in Moonlight, 1938 Gouache and pastel on paper. He favored gouache because its opaque, chalky quality allowed him to achieve incredibly rich, velvety blues and luminous, vibrant highlights. 11.5 × 9.5 in | 29.2 × 24.2 cm Further description in the alt text 👇

Painted during a highly prolific period of his life in France, this work serves as an intimate expression of love and memory, frequently drawing inspiration from his profound relationship with his late wife and muse, Bella Rosenfeld.

The Mystical Blue Palette:
Chagall bathes the composition in rich, celestial blues. In his visual vocabulary, this signature blue represents a space between dream and reality, acting as a safe haven for affection.

Defying Gravity:
The lovers are rendered weightless, floating peacefully above the constraints of the waking world. This lack of traditional perspective underscores the supernatural, poetic nature of deep infatuation.

The Radiant Moon:
Acting as both a literal light source and a symbolic witness, the moon represents memory, cyclical time, and the spiritual protection over the couple's bond.

Emotional Duality:
Completed in 1938—a turbulent year in Europe just before the outbreak of World War II—the painting juxtaposes an intense personal tenderness against an implicit background of sorrow and nostalgia.
