Merriam Webster out here fighting for its life
Merriam-Webster & @Merriam..•18h
'Goodbye' is an alteration of "God be with you."

Sean Kress• @SKress7514 • 16h
Do you have evidence to back this up? If so can you explain what "good night" , "good
morning" and "good evening" are alterations of?

Merriam-Webster & @Merriam..•15h
whatSean Kress & @SKress7514 • 14h
I was genuinely asking the question because the only thing I find on the internet is that it is basically a slur from the original.... I assumed there was a better explanation for it than that as it seems a little unlikely given the good night, good morning etc haven't been slurred into something else too. Sorry if you saw that as offensive.

Merriam-Webster @ @Merriam...•14h S
It is not related to 'good night/ day/morning.'
The 'good' in those do not come from 'God.'Sean Kress @ @SKress7514 • 14h
So the internet suggestion this it is just a slur is what you are basing that on too then?

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Merriam-Webster's etymology follows established linguistic scholarship, not unverified internet suggestions of a "slur."
"Goodbye" is an alteration of "God be with you"; "good" in greetings like "good morning" has separate origins unrelated to "God."

Was it Musk or Trump? Who intervened to hinder Ukraine's satellite internet access, protecting Russian targets from Ukrainian launches? Can stop debating, it looks like the answer is both. Both are Putin sympathizers who have acted to help Russia before, and it'd probably take both to work.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump
Nidal Malik Hasan, a former U.S. Army Major turned traitor, is a very bad and evil man, who killed 13 people, including a pregnant soldier, who died, along with her unborn son, and injured, very seriously, 32 more innocent people. Barack Hussein Obama's Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) intercepted electronic communications between Hasan and the radical Yemeni-American cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki. When reviewed by his FBI terrorism task force, investigators concluded that Hasan's emails were not a threat. This assessment of the Obama Administration's actions was later considered to be a key intelligence failure. With all of that being said, I think streaming the execution for all to see might have been a strong deterrent for the World to witness how America deals with Terrorists and SCUM like Hasan but, many very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die, through streaming, or through any other visual device.
He will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed. That said, the execution may be viewed in person by the immediate families of the victims, if they so choose. They deserve to witness JUSTICE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Yeah, I saw a lot of reports confusing this, which I believe stems from a Ukrainian official saying it was SpaceX. I think the BBC was the only one I saw reporting it correctly to some degree (associating the terminals with the weapons). The US Govt has denied it is them, from what I saw also.

Before he trashed it with the Ilhan Omar search, AG Blanche was quite passionate about DOJ's 60-day rule against "actions that may have an impact on an election," which must "never be countenanced." And that was just a judge-ordered filing in a case indicted more than a year before the election.
The huge public filing that the Motion portends would also violate the Justice Manual,
which prohibits "Actions that May Have an Impact on an Election." Justice Manual § 9-85.500 (emphasis added). "Federal prosecutors and agents may never select the timing of any action,
including investigative steps, criminal charges, or statements, for the purpose of affecting any
election, or for the purpose of giving an advantage or disadvantage to any candidate or political
party." Id. Separately, prior to this case, DOJ followed an "Unwritten 60-Day Rule" summarized as follows:
• Former FBI Director Jim Comey: "[W]e avoid taking any action in the run up to an election, if we can avoid it." DOJ-OIG Report at 17.
• Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch: "[I]n general, the practice has been not to take actions that might have an impact on an election, even if it's not an election case or something like that." Id. at 18.
• Former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates: "To me if it were 90 days off, and you think it has a significant chance of impacting an election, unless there's a reason you need to take that action now you don't do it." Id. at 18.
Departures from these practices should never be countenanced because they risk allowing
prosecutors to impact national elections, but the situation is even worse here where the Special ...
