The 'high-level' climate policy making I was earlier involved with included carbon dioxide removal, international offsetting and using the Finnish industrial forests to 'sequester' our fossil fuel emissions from cars. No CDR exists, offsetting markets collapsed and the forests were overharvested.

Median of model forecasts for peak sea surface anomaly is c. 4 degrees C. Highest previously recorded (2015-16) was 2.75. On top of significant background warming in the last decade this will be uncharted territory for the most exposed regions (including drought in the Amazon and the Sahel).
