My social feeds are full of posts about the APF (UK’s biggest forestry show). I’ve not yet spotted any from people researching/working on landuse policy, or bioeconomy or wider net zero. A missed opportunity for foresty &/or just a lack of awareness outside the sector ?

Fascinating which land use choices are deemed a threat to food security and which aren’t. The rule seems to be every choice - animal feed, biofuel feedstocks, golf courses, etc - is fine, except for solar farms and rewilding, which will apparently lead to food shortages and inflation.

Edinburgh Bike Station launches crowdfunder after flooding
An Edinburgh bike charity has launched a crowdfunder after their workshop was affected by flash flooding. The Bike Station’s basement workshop in Tollcross was forced to close for eight days, after torrential rain caused their underground workshop to flood on 19 August. Their team was able to get the shop back up and running in “record time”, but the work stoppage caused a 30% drop in bike repairs compared to the previous month. Thousands of pounds of revenue were lost at what is usually the workshop’s busiest time of year.
