The same logic applies to houses! When the cost of housing rises everyone is poorer. Even if you own a house and your ‘wealth’ went up, your ability to consume higher amenities than you do currently has gone down. It’s actually just true that high house prices are a sign of poverty.

I want the Prime Minister to look into a TV camera and say the RNLI are heroes, that we do not change policy by street violence in this country, and that he expects any criminal action to face the full force of the law. That's it. That's all he has to do.

But fundamentally taxes need to be a higher share of gdp than ever before because we have more old people than ever before and a substantial portion of the state is essentially that we socialised caring for the elderly into the state via pensions, health and social care.

77% of the public now describe their GP experience as good. 🏥 That's due to our changes - an extra 2000s GPs, £14bn investment, and expanded patient access to online consultations. Still got a way to go - especially on health inequality - but I'm really proud to see progress.

Britain is more than halfway towards reaching Net Zero. Most people don't realise this, not least as the fossil-fuel fanatics want us to think achieving it is impossible. Via YouGov

**UK public support net zero, but underestimate UK achievement to date**

"Thinking about the government's target to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050, how much progress, if any, do you think the UK has made towards achieving this target?"

**Long way / less than halfway** — 50%

**Don't know** — 28%

**Most of the way / More than halfway** — 8%

*All figures, unless otherwise stated, are from YouGov Plc. Total sample size was 2,040 adults. Fieldwork was undertaken between 17th - 18th June 2026. The survey was carried out online. The figures have been weighted and are representative of all GB adults (aged 18+)*

[Scene is a guy with beard and glasses reading a poetry book in a pub. A screen showing football is behind him]

PRESENTER [TALKING TO CAMERA]:

It's a harrowing sight.

An unsporty person, trying to adjust to a world of sport.

[Show everybody else in the pub watching the World Cup on the screen].

But at one rehab centre in East London, there is hope.

[Cut to interior of a SPORTS HALL. The Presenter is showing us round as coaches try to throw balls towards bookish-looking patients].

PRESENTER:

Here, the chronically sports-repellant are given the skills they need to integrate into society.

[We see a woman in a cardigan waiting for the ball to be thrown at her to catch]

[She stand unmoving as it bounces of her forehead]

COACH:
Nearly

[Cut to a to-camera interview with a UNSPORTINESS THERAPIST, sat next to a pot plant and on the wall are framed pictures of different types of ball with directional instructions - a tennis ball - HIT - a football - KICK - a rugby ball - THROW].

THERAPIST:

We have seen a sharp spike in admissions this summer

People come to us suffering the long term effects of being goths, studying arts degrees or just being shit at P.E.

We try to coach all our patients in basic rules and banter skills.

[Cut to a coach in tracksuit sat at the bar in a pub, on the stool next to him is the same poetry-reading bloke we saw earlier].

GUY:

"Ooh he's hit the woodworm...

COACH:

Woodwork.

THERPIST [V/O]:

And when you see them reintegrate. it just makes it all worthwhile.

[The guy again, still reading poetry while all the other people look at the football, reacting to a missed goal opportunity]

EVERYBODY IN PUB:

OOOOH

GUY [a beat late]:

Ooh... woodworm.

[Ends]

It is likely more wasteful to build a better grid connection which is only used 10% of the time than to have a solar farm spill some power 10% of the time. Curtailment is a feature not a bug of a renewables heavy grid and that's fine.
