We want the world we're making feel like magic is full of creative potential while still giving the GM tools to make it not game breaking. So we're doing the Lovecraft route. If a spell is too strong ,stealing too much power from the eldritch force, you attract their gaze. You get smote. Or changed.

Aspirant's Earth God. A squared and tube like worm creature with curling square bismuth crystal shapes spiraling to form its body. float green crystals hover like a crown on each of its segments. Four green glass needles jut out of its sides and bend to become limbs. It has no face. The neck ends in a diamond shaped void.
