💰 The #wildfires in Europe now have a price tag: $18.000.000.000 - $22.000.000.000 Half a million hectares burned in devastating fires. Economic damage is estimated to be around $20 billion. Clearly, #climate change induced heat dried out European soil prior to these large fires.

A new horrific total: #Europe suffered over 10.000 excess deaths during its record-breaking #heatwave. 9,000+ of the 10650 excess deaths (roughly 85%) were among people aged 65+, showing how vulnerable elderly are to extreeme heat. The heatwave would have been impossible without #climatechange.
