This is what I taught my undergrads a couple weeks ago. Economists like David Card, @mclem.org, Giovanni Peri, @chloeneast.bsky.social have studied this extensively, using shocks like the Mariel boatlift, or the staggered adoption of Secure Communities, to show that deportations hurt US workers.
