I actually love billions going to subsidise fossil fuel companies instead of long term solutions. It's class that we can afford to prolong the issue of fossil fuel dependency indefinitely. I love it

It seems Barry Heneghan was at the pictures. Anyway, I believe that if it must be renamed, it ought to be De Valera Avenue, because that would annoy all the right people and correct the wrong of not having something named for him. www.irishtimes.com/politics/oir...

This is yet another example of Dublin City Council refusing to accept that its difficulties are not unique and have in fact already been solved repeatedly all over the world and that no further recourse to outside consultants is required.

The pop chart really just doesn't have the cut-through it used to have. 'Espresso' came up on a pub quiz music round fundraiser for an amateur choir I was at in summer 2025 and two of the gals on my team (mid-30s) hadn't heard of Sabrina Carpenter.

The media narrative that landlords are "fleeing the market" has always seemed to me to be poor analysis. I think landlords have been calling the top of the market. Soft labour market for big-salary tech jobs, global shocks, and demographic factors all biting at once now.

There is a Biggles book set about that time in which he goes off in a huff in his plane and starts shooting whatever he can find, including a "stationary train". I misread this as "stationery train" at first glance and didn't question it since the administrative needs were no doubt vast.

There's a business with the very same model running sites in Manchester, Birmingham and all over London. It costs more to employ staff in the UK, so no excuse there. Ireland doesn't have the same geographic concentrations of big money used to big ticket domestic service costs.

If it's so strategically important, it can't be left to the whims of the Irish private sector construction trade. It would be more appropriate for CIF members to focus on projects of more limited scope, like housebuilding, and leave big industrial projects to specialist international outfits.

How windthrow is the biggest threat to Irish forests
Windthrow can reduce the climate benefit of forestry by removing trees that would have kept growing and disturbing the carbon-rich soils beneath them

Street parking permits should be available on the same basis to everyone living in any given neighbourhood. If there are push factors to be imposed they should be imposed on house and apartment residents equally instead of drawing classist distinctions like this.
