The 5Rs is the framework used by the school diversity advisory group. It posits that you can't just address resources, you have to also address relationships, restorative justice, (tchr) representation, and race-enrollment nhttps://steinhardt.nyu.edu/metrocenter/school-diversity-advisory-group

I don't think that is what I mean. More like, that at a nbhd scale, instead of reproducing a community that is based on stratification, you could produce a community that is centered on caring, if families make and reinforce choices that value caring (and all 5 Rs) over competing.

If the public relies on taxing the rich to fund public goods, we'll need the rich to stay rich. 🤔 If we replace the rich (i.e., elite hoarding) with democratic ownership, we'd still need profits. 🤔 We must re-design public finance so that we need neither the rich nor profit to fund public goods. 💡

The "double-entry" method of bookkeeping—under which assets = liabilities + equity, and by which both private and public budgets are maintained—would continue. But here's the brilliant innovation: Under democratic finance, the assets would be THE COMMITMENTS THAT THE GOVERNMENT MAKES TO THE PUBLIC.

Nikola Tesla envisioned a world powered entirely + wirelessly by solar—and he did so way before many could even access fossil-fuel tech. Analogously: now is our time to envision a public finance that can fund everyone's basic needs—and thereby make capitalism' extractive death-drive obsolete.
