A Galway-born poet who was aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla has been detained by Israeli forces when the boat she was travelling on was intercepted on its final stretch towards Gaza strip.

Update at 23:35 GMT: Sarah Clancy confirmed as detained In the last few moments the Irish media contact for the Global Sumud Flotilla has confirmed that Sarah Clancy as well as Sinn Féin Senator Chris Andrew, Louise Heaney and Tadhg Hickey have all be confirmed as detailed. Sarah Clancy and Senator Andrew were both aboard The Spectre, and both gave interviews to The Clare Champion from the deck of that vessel a few hours ago.
