The three cardinal rules of communication: If it’s important, say it simply, repeat it (at every opportunity), and ask as many other trusted people as you can to also repeat it. This is what works. Trust me on this…I’m a communication scientist. Seriously.

The most dangerous roads in Denver are CDOT arterial roads. While CDOT has no problem spending hundreds of millions on expanding interstate highways, they never chose to spend this kind of money to make our local CDOT roads safer, or on safe routes to schools programs. This is a choice.

Denver’s most expensive transportation projects are our highway lane expansions & highway interchange projects. Funneling the money for just one of those highway projects to safe routes to schools, or pedestrian & bicycle networks would be enough money to revolutionize our transportation network.

Climate awareness is on the decline even as impacts get worse in large part because of the cumulative effect of a thousand small journalistic failures like this every day: one blink-and-you-miss-it reference to "rising temperatures" when it should be in the hed, lede, kicker & every 3rd graph.

‘Was this heatwave caused by climate change?’ – we’re asking the wrong question
Instead of asking whether climate change caused a heatwave, we should ask how much hotter it became because of fossil fuel emissions.

I’m not saying that if your country takes climate change seriously and moves away from fossil fuels that you will win a World Cup. But there seems to be a correlation here…

The most effective way to stop companies like Amazon & Fed Ex from blocking bike lanes is to build protected bike lanes. When bikes are physically separated from traffic, illegal parking becomes much harder & cyclists are safer because of it. www.chicagotribune.com/2026/07/19/b...
