This glimpse of a medieval window from inside a quadruple Tudor chimney stack was only visible 10 years ago whilst we undertook some flood recovery work. This space is now a much needed cupboard! 314018

Alix Mortimer @alixmortimer.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Hence some people in the article have active social lives but still feel lonely. If lack of *connection* has grown then that’s a whole other set of possible causes. Maybe people are less stuck with each other socially than they were 40 years ago, so fewer relationships get to the connecting point? 010
Alix Mortimer @alixmortimer.bsky.social · 05/10/2026This article seems to conflate two things. There is making friends which can be hard for young people for a lot of the reasons mentioned (academic/work pressure, time, cost of living, lack of third spaces etc) and there is *connecting* with people, which is an overlapping but different task. 110

Alix Mortimer @alixmortimer.bsky.social · 28/09/2026AI in therapy, my working take is it’s almost uniformly terrible because therapy is about being contained by another human who you form a relationship with, that’s the value rather than the actual content of the sessions, although this is not widely known.
