Here's today's column on the astonishing, ongoing mistreatment of people with #ME/CFS. Please spread it far and wide: the only thing which can break the media's wall of indifference is seeing an article about the issue go viral. Thank you. 1/2 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Abandoned, dismissed and gaslighted: there is no excuse for the way ME sufferers have been betrayed | George Monbiot
Changes in guidance and science seem to have little impact on millions of devastated lives. It’s a social crisis playing out behind closed doors, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

So my new article asks why Swarbrick’s economics sounds so unusual in NZ politics, and why voters may be responding to it. Ok fine, I eventually mention Warren Mosler. andrewdicksonnz.substack.com/p/chloe-swar...

I had a thing or two to say about the utter lack of any economic strategy from the two major parties, because – like everyone else – I'm tired of listening to them bang on about the government deficit as if it's the only thing that matters #nzpol www.thepost.co.nz/business/361...

Major parties’ obsession with arbitrary deficit figure is not an economic strategy
OPINION: We’re continuing to talk about the government deficit because we’re refusing to talk about a national economic strategy, says Kent Duston.

NZ has - almost uniquely amongst our peers - tanked its economy and pushed 10,000s onto the dole (and offshore). We were told that this strategy would 'get interest rates down, tame inflation, and drive growth 🎉'. Yet, here we are, slumped and vying to be inflation champs. What went wrong? [🧵1/n]

This is a total disaster for the country and it is not an accident - it is policy. We have knowingly created a 'buffer stock' of unemployed people desperate for work because ghouls think that this is the best way to stop wages/prices going up. Who suffers? The young and the marginalised. Disgusting.

Woke up still grumpy about this 🤣 equality for women is still MIA, but instead of focussing on men stepping up or society providing tangible, solid, comprehensive support for childrearing, women are still being expected to sacrifice their bodies, careers, time, money, and resource to have babies.
