I'm very much looking forward to reading the book. But...**taps sign** lots of people have already made up their mind about Hager, and many voters on the right dgaf about the tactics that are used to gain or retain power, imo. bsky.app/profile/lost...

Luxon, asked about this on Tuesday after it was first reported in the NZ Herald, didn’t appear to be concerned.

Looking forward to Hager's book launch BUT if it is politics related I am at the point where I don't think any revelations will make a difference to how people vote.

Shrinking the economy is not good economic management, but it's the only strategy the right in NZ seem to have.

My BoTY votes: 1) Ruru - on my walks by the river at night, I often hear them.Very hard to spot even if you know where they live (approximately) - there's a glade of trees I pass by that has one. 2) Kārearea - beautiful bird, I have a soft spot for predators. 3) Kahu - more common predatory bird ..

All Blacks completely outplayed today. Yes, there may have been a couple of unlucky ref decisions but we were second best in virtually every facet of the game. The score flattered the All Blacks.

Interesting that "Mamdami" looks like being a line of attack being run by both National and NZF.
Winston Peters on FB:

The Greens new policy of Nationalising Private Supermarkets is textbook communism by stealth.
The Greens have gone full Mamdani and the waiting queues will be kilometres long - just look at how it turned out in places like Venezuela.
The Greens are economic illiterates who think they are still in high school - this from Chloe who wants to be the Minister of Finance. … See moreSam Uffindell on FB:

The idea to forcibly nationalise supermarkets (or banks, for that matter) is nuts. How can you forcibly take businesses off a cooperative (Foodstuffs) and a listed entity (Woolworths), hand them to the state and present yourself as an economy anyone should invest in? Once nationalised, you are presented with state run grocery stores.
This Soviet-style, Mamdani-inspired socialist vision is taking over the left of politics and will dri… See more

OK it's been long enough that posting about the SA-AB's match doesn't have any spoilers lol. Why do people expect the referee team to have mistake-free games when none of the players do? All 3 matches I think best team on the day won.

Finally watched the All Blacks this afternoon. Overall a good performance against a strong SA team. We lost scrums, conceded a number of lineout penalties, and still won. Having said that, we had the rub of the green on some decisions - some referees would have sent Ardie off, not the SA player...

Nothing says "I have full support of caucus" more than not knowing the vote.
Asked if he would release the results of the confidence vote, to show that he had “full support”, Luxon replied: “No. That remains inside our caucus. There’s only two people that know that vote.”

Confidence votes are done by secret ballot, and counted by the two party whips. Luxon himself said he didn’t know the vote breakdown.

My most "radical" idea I don't think is radical at all. Look at how much policies - especially in health, education, welfare - return in the long term. If the return is more than you can borrow money at, then you do it.

We've got a system that relies on people being unemployed to keep the cost of Labour down, then blames unemployment on the unemployed. The worst thing is, anyone who understands economics KNOWS that unemployment is a macro problem, not solvable by unemployed individuals finding jobs.
