@andyburnham.bsky.social why on earth are you letting the far right run riot, targeting RNLI heroes? Stand up for what is right, or your name will forever be synonymous with letting the far right prevail. You hold the most powerful position in the UK, and a massive majority. Fucking use it

In the summer of 2013, two esoteric, technical, incredibly important texts were published within weeks of one another: the first is the Snowden leaks, which revealed a system of global, pervasive digital surveillance. 1/
"Eugène Delacroix's painting 'La Liberté guidant le peuple' ('Liberty Leading the People'), depicting the French revolution as a ragtag group of peasants led by a flag-waving, bare-breasted incarnation of 'Liberty.' The painting has been altered: the scene is now being observed with a giant, smoke-shrouded CCTV dome, and the distant building have been replaced with a mainframe computer.

Neoclassical econ assumes rationality. The corollary of, "If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?" is "you're rich, so you must be very smart!" Thus, people assume that if powerful, well-compensated CEOs insist that "AI is changing everything," well then, *AI must be changing everything*. 1/
A sepia-toned 1950s era boardroom in which men in suits sit around a circular table. The chair of the meeting has been replaced with a man in a straitjacket, making a funny face. The heads of the remaining board-members have been replaced with robots from 1930s pulp magazines. The image has been hand-tinted.

The UK government must ACT NOW and: • Condemn the Israeli Navy’s illegal actions against the Flotilla • Demand the safety and release of all British Citizens involved in this mission • Stop all arms exports to Israel immediately • Do everything in its power to end this ongoing genocide

I knew without watching it that @martinlewis.moneysavingexpert.com would tell it how it is - luck means so much to how everyone’s life pans out, the world would be a better place if more people would recognise it. Great speech 👏🏾

Fully agree on this. Such a corrupt organisation, yet there’s literally nothing to stop national FAs to just tell them to go suck a bunch of dicks. Would 100% be backed by fans as well

Reform sells itself as an anti-establishment party fighting for ordinary people. Yet its deputy leader, Richard Tice, stashed profits in an offshore trust and dormant companies to avoid paying nearly £600,000 in corporation tax, screwing over the rest of us. Reform is the establishment.

A growing number of people are interested in switching to plant-based alternatives to dairy. But are they better for the environment, and which is best?
Multiple bar charts comparing milks across a number of environmental metrics: land use, greenhouse gas emissions, water use, and eutrophication (the pollution of ecosystems with excess nutrients). These are compared per liter of milk.

Cow’s milk has significantly higher impacts than the plant-based alternatives across all metrics. It causes around three times as much greenhouse gas emissions; uses around ten times as much land; two to twenty times as much freshwater; and creates much higher levels of eutrophication.

The data source is based on a meta-analysis (by Joseph Poore and Thomas Nemecek, 2018) of food system impact studies across the supply chain, which includes land use change, on-farm production, processing, transport, and packaging. The chart is licensed CC BY to Our World in Data

Billy Binion tweet, it reads:
"Politicians shgouldn't say "fuck" in public. Unbecoming, reeks of pick-me energy. You're the mayor. Act like it."

It's QTing @Acyn who is quoting the Mayor Frey saying "I have a message for ICE: Get the fuck out of Minneapolis.
