Anyway, since I’m at the self-help figure-it-out point, if anyone who’s dealt with this has advice or can point me to resources that were useful to them or their partner in coping with routine PPA stuff (insomnia, anxiety spirals, intrusive thoughts, etc.), I would be grateful to hear from you.

It’s straight up not helpful. And if the therapist isn’t a fit, as the first one I tried was not, more waiting. 100 minutes and 2 months sunk into a new one, I’m skeptical and frustrated. I mostly want help addressing typical PPA issues, somewhat heightened by adjusting to early intervention needs.

5 AM overshare, but also a serious point: the state of routine postpartum mental healthcare in the U.S. is pathetic. I’m not bad off—overall I’m managing very well. But waiting weeks to see a therapist for only 50 minutes and then not again for 2-3 more weeks is a joke. That’s everywhere I’ve tried.

My high school teacher husband has been talking about the hacky sack trend among his Gen Z students! I remember it had a return for Millennials, too, in our high school years. Half my pics from an ‘05 trip are classmates playing all over Rome—cracked me up (I never played either. I’m uncoordinated.)
