This latest heatwave has shown us the existential consequences from climate change, and this Carbon Budget vote was an important step in meeting that challenge. Hear from @steveracemp.bsky.social, @alistrathern.bsky.social and @janetdaby.bsky.social on why it's crucial to back the targets 👇️

Labour must not fear talking about the climate

I've written for @politicshome.bsky.social about the future of Drax Power Station. Drax is shifting focus away from its controversial carbon capture project. Here's why that's an opportunity for this government. www.politicshome.com/opinion/arti...

In a normal week, the Future Homes Standard launch would be a huge announcement in and of itself. This is a Lab Gov ensuring future housing stock come with solar panels and heat pumps as standard, helping tackle energy bills and bolstering our national energy security. 🧵

💧 The Government’s Water White Paper is out. Water companies must do far better and be held squarely to account. But delivering the scale of change needed will require more than blame and antagonism and this White Paper is a genuine move in that direction.

There are political challenges of over-reliance on energy imports. With geopolitical uncertainty as it is, energy independence resonates with the public, the risk with current biomass model is that this undermines it.

Rising food prices are canary in the coal mine for climate impacts on food production. Q for Lab is how to increase resilience in food systems. This means what we produce + how, and how we protect those with least from higher costs. Empty shelves tend not to be a great look for Gov.
