#Conlangity 5 So, the theory of Arca'raed's origin can be divided into competing camps: The mystics and the anthropological, for lack of a better term. The mystic belief is held by probably 80% of the population of the main Istemorian continent (the percentage is lower amongst the clainns living 🧵

#Conlangity 5 My headcanon for Na'aqal, the language of Atalantis, is that it originated as a creole language. Originally Atalantis was connected to Europe/Africa via a land bridge, a LONG time ago, but over time the land bridge disappeared & various nomadic tribes were isolated on the island...🧵

#Conlangity 🫣 We have worked out that it may be too early (I do not have enough vocab yet) to determine a complex stressing structure but I'm tentatively sitting on two main rules: 1. Syllables containing long vowels & dipthongs will be stressed. 2. The h following a consonant forces a stress.

#Conlangity 4. On day 2, we saw the basic pronunciation of the Kraslan alphabet. However, as I implied, there’s still another layer to explore. That’s because vowels are divided into light (/a/, /i/, /o/) and heavy (/e/, /u/, /y/). While light vowels don’t change the sound 🧵 #ChroniclesOfTheRealms

Sharing alexander_collage_2.jpg for today's #LitHodgepodge. What hobby should Alexander pick up to avoid going stir-crazy while he's MEGA-GROUNDED in the countryside in 1661!?
Collage of various unhinged sketches of a blond, blue-eyed white boy dressed in aristocratic garb of the early 1660s: black fur hat with huge feathers, cape, falling band, short blue doublet worn open with silver embroidery and gold buttons, blue petticoat breeches, ribboned high-heel shoes or boots with lacy lining, golden rapier, lace-lined gloves, fuzzy golden baldric, and huge quantities of silver and pink ribbon everywhere. In all the various doodles his expression is usually some variant of Angry as he pouts, bites a man's leg, wields a rapier, flips the bird, and screams.

OUR CRIMSON CAGE is a Carmilla-inspired novella all about three women sucking blood and books in 19th Century Poland 📚 books2read.com/ourcrimsoncage ✒️ ladz-merch.square.site/product/-fir...
Background is a four-image grid with a woman with smeared blood, a statue touching its nipple, a red flower, and a woman bleeding out of her mouth

It might be the first time I’ve ever made anyone genuinely happy. She does not bite my nipple directly, but the delicate swell beside it. The pleasure that chases the pain of being bitten nearly overcomes the limits of coitus I thought I had found for myself. As she laps and sucks, blood sloshes within her cheeks. She follows with a soft press of her tongue, as if that will prevent wounding, but I hope I receive reminders of these sins I’m committing with her. Both of us are deplorable, but only one has been cast out from grace.

My blood stains her lips, and she offers me a grin so precious that I wish I could freeze it and cherish it until it is my own time to pass.

A terrible skeet from someone named Shawn whose really shitty take justifying SA is 'I don't mean to downplay sexual assault but I also have known a lot of good people who had to learn healthy boundaries by violating someone else's and never forgetting the experience'

The screenshot is attached to a comic strip of a purple character cringing at their laptop screen, followed by them pointedly closing the screen because of the terrible take they just read. Original artist of the strip unknown.

#Conlangity Ok, so, this was hard AND fun. Given that I started with some surnames based off of Yakut, I wanted to maintain at least the root sounds of it. Siefan is going to be vowel heavy (like the donor) with both short and long vowels that WILL change the meaning of words.
An IPA chart made for a fictional language referred to as Siefan.

Unfortunately this will be nightmare to convert into alt text, so I apologize for the mess that will follow this message (but I have copied and pasted the info from the chart).

Consonants

Nasal	m	n	ny/ɲ/	ng /ŋ/	-
Plosive Affricate	p, b	t, d, ts /t͡s/	ch/t͡ʃ/	k, g	-

Just as I began drumming my fingers on the railing, someone, Payne by the sound of his voice, called out from the bow, “Eyes starboard!”

“How many?”

“Um…four…no, maybe five?” Payne calls but didn’t sound sure and I frowned.

I looked towards him to gauge his position on the deck and where he was looking and called out, “Adeola.”

Our sharpshooter, a gorgeous lanky woman from Botswana, nodded once and sprinted through the rain to Payne’s side, raising her ridiculously long rifle and peering down its scope. A second later, she called, “Counting five. Maybe a killy an’ a half out.”

“Shot?” I inquired.

A beat, then Adeola replied, “Nah, no shot. They’ve people with ‘em.”

Beanie and I shared a glance. “Pitits?” I asked in response.

Another tense beat and Adeola called, “Nah, they look grown. One of ‘em’s carrying bags.”

“Delivery,” Beanie said, and I gave him a terse nod. They were early this year.

#Conlangity My browser closed and erased my first attempt at a post 😵 Anywho. I wanted Dowk to have a harsh sound to it (it's angry-language!) but what came out the other side has a breathiness and fluidity to it that was unexpected. This is partly down to the sounds I chose but I think
Screenshot showing a list of IPA symbols. The consonants are mostly the ones familiar to an English speaker, including both Th's, but there's no R. There is a tap-R, as well as both voiced and voiceless uvular fricatives.
The list of vowels is rather short and limited mostly to front and back sounds.

#Conlangity 1 Good morning friendos! The language mainly used in my #GodsOfAtalantis series is Na'aqal. It's the native language of the people of Atalantis. I'm cheating because I've already developed this language A LOT 😅 But doing all that work was what inspired me to make this game for others!

Anyway, take from this reaction what you will!!!!! This is a Conservative prime minister. Please, please consider whether you **actually** support his **policies** or just wish the narrative he's weaving around them was reality (it's not).
Former Alberta Premier (and former conservative cabinet minsiter) Jason Kenney posts, in reaction to Carney saying Canada must be the globe's oil supplier:

"Take a bow, Alberta WE WON!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Every line of this is what we Albertans have been saying for years!

Total repudiation of the Trudeau-Guilbault energy policy!

“Global oil demand will remain in the tens of millions of barrels a day for decades to come.

“So the question is: who will be the world’s trusted supplier of oil for years to come. It should be us. It must be Canada.”

🇨🇦 💪🏼"
