A really tough thing that canvassers don't usually talk about is that every time you knock on a door inside an apartment building, a locked courtyard or even just a long driveway, there's a small chance the person will react as if you literally climbed into their living room through an open window.🧵

This specific glitch makes any sort of conversation in Instagram comments essentially impossible. But does anyone know what causes it? And why hasn't anyone fixed it given how devastating it is for the functionality of Instagram? This is insane to me. I might never get to read this dumpster fire!

Spencer Pratt and I are both against free fares, but I haven't solicited any assistance. This tweet sums up why. He can't even finish a thought about transit before veering off into some barely intelligible nonsense about why trains and buses can't work in LA because it's too big.
Karen Basura is now at that point of desperation where she's just bribing voters with "free" shit.

Remember, nothing is free. YOU pay for it. Even though LA has the lowest metro ridership on earth, it's not because of the fares...it's the zombies, and nobody wants to catch 3 different trains, 5 buses, and walk 4 miles to the metro station just to get to work. LA isn't a vertically stacked grid like Manhattan, where the Metro works. LA is a massive suburban sprawl, and it's too much of a pain in the ass to Rube Goldberg your way from one side of town to the

other on the Metro.

Remember, Florida. Nothing would own those libs harder than allowing Amtrak to take over Brightline.
Brightline is operating as usual.

Trains are running as scheduled, reservations remain active, and guests can continue booking and traveling with confidence.

If a transit system is spending money on advertising, it should: A. Have information about where and when the actual buses and trains operate. B. Target that information to groups of people who would ride if they knew that specific service info. SEPTA is doing a good job at this!

Start your trip on the right track.

Apparently, if you take all your existing projects, list them on a webpage and send it out in a press release, the media will cover it as news. Other transit systems, take note!

Advocates are rallying at City Hall tomorrow to demand that LA Mayor Karen Bass declare a state of emergency due to the city’s spiking traffic deaths — already 8% higher than the same time last year
MEDIA ADVISORY
Advocates and Community Members Demand a State of Emergency and
More
to Address Spike in Traffic Violence
The stats speak for themselves:
• The City of Los Angeles has had more traffic fatalities than homicides for the past 3 years.
• In 2025, Los Angeles had 324 traffic fatalities and 16,160 people injured; that's 3.5% higher than in 2024 (313). (Source: TIMS)
• So far this year, traffic fatalities are already well over 200 and are currently running 8% higher than the same time last year. (Source: LAPD as of 22 Aug 2026)In 2015, Los Angeles started Vision Zero, LA's plan to eliminate traffic fatalities by 2025. That plan failed, and traffic fatalities are now 34% higher than they were in 2015(241 compared to 324). (Source: TIMS) Since then, LA has failed to produce a comprehensive plan to reduce traffic violence.
In April 2025, an independent analysis of Vision Zero found 13 key points of failure. All of these boil down to poor coordination and prioritization within and across city departments as well as a lack of political will.
None of this has been fixed.
On 11 May 2026, in an email, Ms Tina Backstrom from the LA Mayor's office stated that Mayor Karen Bass had an Executive Directive on her desk to re-launch Vision Zero and that it would be reviewed and signed within three weeks. This was never done.
Los Angeles has spent more than a decade promising to eliminate traffic deaths. Not only did Vision Zero fail, but things have gotten worse, and now, instead of fixing what continues to fail, the city has chosen to ignore the problem.

NoHo-Pasadena shouldn't get a letter because it's not a busway! It's a limited-stop surface route with bus lanes. And its projected schedule speed is 17.3 mph. (The G Line's is 20 mph.) So it's an improvement over a normal bus, but would also devalue the lettered line brand.
Twitter user:
Has @metrolosangeles announced the letter for the north hollywood to Pasadena line?

Metro replies:
Not yet!

In less than 700 days, the Olympic & Paralympic games start. Will Los Angeles be ready? That’s what I asked LA Metro, LADOT, & local transit agencies at a panel I led. Their answer? Yes, but only if the federal government steps up to the plate & delivers on their promises. ICYMI in the LA Times:

Step 2 is to realize that majority opinion didn't matter anyway because politics is mostly a battle royale of tiny, hyper-engaged interest groups. Most people only weigh in occasionally by voting, which your pet issue is unlikely to affect. So it's easier to work around voters than persuade them.

They're still bus-bridging the Surfliner! Though at least they're doing a pretty good job. They had a bus depart Irvine right as the train pulled in for people getting on there, and are keeping three buses behind for the people on the train.
Itinerary Change: As of 2:24 AM PT Due to high tides causing a track closure near San Clemente Pier (SNP) your scheduled train will have a bus operation that will transport customers between Oceanside (OSD) and Irvine (IRV) to continue your travel to your final destinations

Taking the Surfliner every week for 1.5 yr taught me just how terrible Amtrak's comms are. If an Amtrak train hits a person, Metrolink will have an alert out in 10 minutes and @amtrak.com won't have an alert out for 40 minutes. Why? What is causing this? I actually want to get to the bottom of it.

@calelectricrail.org The splashy waves have struck again. According to our conductor, Alstom and Amtrak are on a conference call and are strategizing about how to get all the trains through San Clemente without working signals. Possibly back to back, since the schedule is cooked anyway.
